Stanton House Inn, Greenwich

We liked everything about this property. We can't understand the posted reviews as they are totally inaccurate. Before visiting ,we did our homework and read all posted reviews on various sites. Most are extremely positive so we had high expectations. The reviews you have posted are not at all applicable to this property. The location can not be beat, the staff is friendly , very professional and accommodating. We found the rooms to be lovelier than represented on their own web-site. Breakfast was more than adequate and served in the beautiful, sunny dining room. We can't wait to return when their very inviting pool is open for the summer season!

Although it's a charming house and in a nice location the attitude of the management left a lot to be desired. We advised when booking that we would have a 2nd vehicle but no mention was made of the $10/night for an extra parking spot (when the lot was 1/2 empty). Hyatt and Hilton are 2/3 the price and don't charge for extra parking, nor do they take your deposit right after you book, as opposed to taking it once the cancellation date has past. There are elaborate descriptions of cancellation terms in the confirmation letter but nothing about an extra charge for parking. It wasn't the $10/night that put us off, it was the attitude. We parked the extra car in the school lot next door, for spite.

My friend and I decided on the Stanton House Inn since it was my last night in NY before leaving to relocate to Florida. I had called the inn and it seemed like the perfect place to stay. While booking I was told that they would make every effort to make our stay a pleasant one ... I even explained the situation. As soon as we checked in, we told the hostess that a few on my friends would stop by to wish me well . I was told that they could not come up to the room ....that they must stay outside, better still that we should go to a restaurant!!! A few minutes later a phone call was placed to our room stating that we were not to have any red wine in the room which was followed by another call stating that each visitor would be charged $10 per car for parking and so on. The management was very stuffy and even informed us that this is Greenwich... it is a real mom and pop type of place and not in a good sense. In short, without going into the gory details, and there are many, the room itself was just o k ............the public rooms were hot and stuffy, .. no AC that I could detect, the inn keepers were snooty and uppity. We were also told, when making the reservation that it was just a short walking distance to Greenwich Ave where there is shopping , well maybe a short distance by car.......... In short, we never even brought our bags up to the room, were there less than an hour, were asked to leave after the police were called... four police cars showed up.... and we were charged $211 of which they would not refund our money. I have never had anything like this happen to me before, I have traveled the world for both business and pleasure and really feel that the Stanton House Inn was way off line in the way they treated us as guests. I totally do not recommend this Inn to anyone.

Beautiful historoic house, very clean, gracious atmosphere, connventient to town, yet just enough not to be in town, lovely setting wih garden, a good breakfast buffet. I would highly recommend it to people who deserve a nice quiet place.

I have stayed at historic The Stanton for almost 20 years now and have stayed in every room this B&B has and found consistency across the board in comfort, cleanliness and all accommodations offered. It is the only place I'd stay while in Greenwich.

Where to begin? My first experience at the Inn was on a work-related visit to the Greenwich area. The Inn was charming, immaculately clean, and above all, comfortable. My wife and I have returned twice since that initial visit for leisure. The inn is an excellent starting point for exploring Manhattan and for just a taste of the Greenwich life. Though located in a quiet residential area, you can walk downtown to some of the best restaurants around in less than 10 minutes--and the city is never more than an hour away (by car or commuter train). The innkeepers and their staff are attentive and helpful without being overbearing or intrusive (as in some smaller B&Bs). The breakfast is rightly called a "full" continental breakfast--though I was pleasantly surprised by the eggs and bacon on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And during the warmer months, eating breakfast on the patio with a copy of the New York Times makes for an ideal Sunday morning� I wholeheartedly recommend the Stanton House Inn! Oh, and remember to ask about their Deluxe(?) mattresses! I�ve never slept so well! Tom M.

I warn you not to stay at this B&B. Its hard to understand how the B&B is still operating with how rude and unaccomodating the owner was. We had an absolutely horrible experience. I recommend staying at the Hyatt, Delmar or Thomas Henkelman.
