Nice family ran place - like ma and pas place
By ,
Nice place to stay. Very friendly people - helpful - clean rooms (although its an older place - it was clean) - fresh towels daily - nice heated pool (stays open late - kids enjoyed that) I would suggest this place to those who are staying in Erie for a night or two. Remember its not the Hilton - its The Glass House Inn - family owned!! If you read other reviews on this site from people putt'n it down - they are so wrong or they are use to staying at the Hilton - take it from me - stay there and you will not regret it!! No I am not paid or even related to the people to say this - lol.

Stay away
By ,
I think the title says enough. Stay away. You don't want to be welcomed by unfriendly staff and then finding yourself in a small dirty room. This ruined my trip and never going back.

We love it here!
By ,
We stay here every time we travel to Erie. As a family of five, it is difficult to find a place that fits us! The Glass House Inn offers "family" rooms, with two double beds and a single, perfect for us. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean, and the rooms clean. While older, the "mom and pop" feel make this a great place to stay. It is in a great location--close to the beach. Overall, our favorite place to stay in Erie!

Way better than hotel chains!
By ,
I recently stayed at the Glass House with my husband and 2 kids. It was a very cute, clean, and comfortable room. The workers at the front desk were very friendly, and they helped us find great places to go for dinner and for fun. It is conveniently located about a mile or two from Presque Isle and Waldameer. The continental breakfast was delicious, and my kids spent a lot of time at the pool. It was big, very clean, and open until 11pm. I also liked the wireless internet. It worked great! Staying here was a much better value than any other chain hotel we have ever stayed at. We will be visiting Erie every summer from now on!!!

Could have been worse....I guess.
By ,
Stayed here because of close proximity to Saturday seminar. Seemed quaint (if old furniture and carpets can be called quaint) and clean. Very old. Extremely noisy from 11 til about 1140PM due to multiple teens next door talking loudly and laughing next door. Their TV was cranked way up too, with no one to call cuz office closed at 11. Laptop showed 3 wireless networks and best of 3 had low signal, other two were poor. Took 20 minutes to get online. Breakfast- coffee or hot water with powdered creamer, no milk or creamer. Store bought bagels, which were hard, cereal and sliced cantalope and watermelon. Had to leave quickly for conference in order to get breakfast before meeting. Room small, clean but very old. Not updated recently. TV on wall and very loud. Could here neighbors TV, talking, walking etc. Not good place for sleeping. Especially with major road noise. Extra tax was a surprise after emailed reservation said $91 even, total came to $101.01.

Glass House Inn
By ,
My husband and I are former Erie residents. We stayed at the Glass House Inn last summer and were satisfied with our accommodations and the service. Granted, it is not a brand new hotel, but the owners do take pride in their business. I would offer to the person that said it's horrible that I don't know what you expected, but if you are allergic to strawberries, then buy your own breakfast! Continental breakfast means exactly that -- bagels, muffins, toast, coffee juice - all of which was provided when we were there. I think you may be a little OCD if you are worried about a little dirt on the bottom of your shoes. The location was perfect for us and the pool is a perfect place to relax after a busy day. We more than likely will stay again on our next visit.

I look forward to staying again
By ,
My daughter is getting married in Aug,2008 in Erie, and we are from Pittsburgh. We have been planning and making the arrangements for the last few months. We stayed at the Glass House and it was very comfortable and a nice room. It is older but very well taken care of. I think that is what makes it special. Its charming. We had no problems, didn't get the breakfast. we slept in too late!! The Location is perfect. I also felt safe there. We made a mistake the first visit to Erie....we didn't have a reservation anywhere, and the Glass House was full. Most places are very expensive around that area. I know that we will recommend this lovely little place to all of our out of town quests for the wedding.

I keep going back
By ,
I have to ask the person who wrote the previous review, are you sure you stayed at the Glass House Inn in Erie Pa? I really enjoy Presque Isle park and the fishing opportunities that the Erie area has to offer. That being said, I have been staying at the Glass House Inn at least once a year for over twenty years. I have never EVER experienced the service and conditions the previous reviewer claims. The Glass House Inn is an old establishment but is very well maintained and always clean. The claim about the slippers is laughable. How many times did the previous reviewer leave the room to go to breakfast or for ice wearing them, and how many people do you know that get upset when the bottom of their new shoes/slippers get dirty? The breakfast is basic, you could spend another 60-70 dollars and stay somewhere that puts out a big spread for breakfast. I never had a problem with my room not being cleaned and getting towels, etc replaced. I call the previous review B.S. I have no connections to the family that owns the Glass House Inn and no business dealings with them other than being a satisfied customer. Walt B

Horrible!!
By ,
I stayed here based on some other reviews saying how wonderful it was. It is terrible!! Old and dilapidated. It is filthy! Very, very dusty. The bottom of the brand new slippers I brought were dark brown after 2 days. I brought the owner down and showed her the dirt and she said it would be taken care of. It was not. Each day brought a different number of linens. One day I would get one towel, nothing else. The next day a full set. Then one washcloth. Toilet paper and tissue were not replaced. I had to go to the office to get them when out. The phone did not work. Dead. I had to go to the office. The breakfast consisted of bagels and a can of strawberry cream cheese or choice of muffin. Period. I am allergic to strawberries. The ice machine is in the office. The office closes at 10 p.m. I needed ice the morning I left and it was 7:30 am and it was not open. The in room coffee was not replaced everyday. As with the linens, some days it would be there, others not. Sheets were not changed even once in 5 nights stay. TV was old and the picture showed it. Mattress had seen better days. Desk chair was threadbare with foam sticking out. Sink and bathtub were not cleaned during stay. Curtains and mini blinds were broken. The only good thing in the room was the recliner chair. People said they had been coming there for 20 years. Maybe it was nice 20 years ago. Not now. Not worth it at any price! Stay away unless you like living on top of other people's dirt.
