North Shire Lodge, Manchester

We were lucky to find this lodge many years ago. The owners could not be nicer and more helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We are looking forward to returning next year.

Cleanest room I've ever had at a motel or hotel. Beautiful mountain view from the room. The motel is "green", which is a big plus. No smoking or animals, another big plus. Beautiful central gathering place with large fireplace, comfortable seating and great view. Owners are pleasant and attentive. Nice continental breakfast included and coffee available all day. Only 10 minutes from outlets and many restaurants. I'll definately return.

I have stayed at the North Shire Motel on several occasions for the past ten years. Each time: nothing but impeccable service and spotless facilities. The rooms are cozy and comfortable: two queen-size beds, TV with cable and VCR/DVD player, fridge, WiFi. Bathrooms are large with full tub/showers. Sure, it's not in the center of town, but it's right on RT VT 7A - a historic and scenic drive. In all my years staying at hotels in the Manchester area, this is by far the best one. There's a nice breakfast bar with baked goods like breakfast breads, muffins and more made by Kerry, not to mention a full selection of cereals, bagels, juices, coffees and Twinings teas - definitely not marginal, unless your concept of breakfast is primarily composed of bacon, sausage, omelettes, pancakes and waffles; so if you're looking for that...you might want to go Friendly's for breakfast. Good luck finding another hotel in Manchester that is under $100! This place is a gem and an excellent value for my money!

we found dust and debris under the beds, breakfast while free, is marginal. Why not do it right or not call it breakfast. Rates are high compared to other places as we found out too late

My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend a night at this delightful motel. It is spotless...and the cinnamon rolls freshly baked this morning were heaven. The view from our room as well as from their lounge is breathtaking at this time of year. The owners are friendly and most helpful. We asked for a recommendation for dinner and were guided to "Ye Olde Tavern". The food and ambiance were perfect! We will definitely stay at this special place again.

Due to a last minute Columbus Day weekend cancellation we lucked into a room here and couldn't be more pleased. Tim, the owner, greeted us warmly upon arrival and took care to explain everything, despite the late hour - so welcome after driving around lost on dark country roads for hours. The room is immaculate and I can't think of anything missing -- including free wi-fi. There's a charming guest lounge where I imagine one could spend many a jolly hour. Looking forward to Tim's wife's cinnamon rolls in the morning and already scheming and dreaming of ways to come back soon.

We liked this clean and comfortable motel room. We thought is was nice and reasonably quiet. The continental breakfast was good. The inn-keepers are friendly and helpful. The views are pretty. If you don't like the headlights from passing vehicles shining in your room, just try closing the curtains. They offer free in-room wireless internet (which I am taking advantage of right now...); but if you didn't bring your laptop, they have a public desktop system in the office, available for use when the office is open. With all there is to do in the Manchester area, it has a good location. We would definitely stay here again.

as far as nice clean rooms the north shire motel was great. i was slightly dissapointed with how far away it was from from manchester center. all throught the night i had headlights coming in my window from the road. overall it wasn't a horrible experience it just was not worth the money i paid.

Super clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, easy to find--just outside Manchester Center, Vermont. There is a basic continental breakfast--bagels, donuts, cereal, juice and coffee, movies to borrow and watch in your room, and lots of maps and information about local attractions.

We've stayed at the North Shire almost every time we've been in Manchester, and the place is lovely. Rooms are clean and tidy, there's a terrific little pool up on a shady corner of the spacious yard, and each room has a breathtaking view across a sweeping lawn to the mountains of Vermont. The summer breeze here is a tonic, and genuine quiet prevails -- although you might catch the bleating of one of the sheep that graze at the bottom of the hill! A weekend here with dinner at the fabulous Chantecleer restaurant a few miles north of town is our idea of time well spent in this part of New England.
