the Maine seacoast the way it should be

The Dunes recaptures and preserves the best of the Ogunquit of forty years ago, when the village was not New Yorkified the way it is now. You can walk across the Ogunquit river at low tide to a less-crowded area of the beach, or at high tide you can use one of their rowboats to get across. The best place to stay there is in one of the cottages on the river, where you can see the ocean and the river in a serene panorama. It is next door (through a path at the back, really) to the Ogunquit Lobster Pound, probably the best place in the entire area to get a lobster dinner. For families looking for a place where you can keep the kids happy with meals you prepare yourself and where the kids can roam at will without being watched all the time (something you would not want to do anywhere else in Ogunquit), the Dunes is perfect. It is not cheap, but it is nonetheless a value for what you get. I hope they don't sell this place and convert it to your average resort hotel. There is plenty of that elsewhere.
