Arundel Meadows Inn, Kennebunk

This place was a great value for us. We are on a budget and have two dogs. We had the downstairs room, which was quite spacious, although the deck is not really private. The grounds are unkempt and there was no air conditioning, fireplace, or pool (as some brochures will tell you), but the friendly hostess served an amazing breakfast, and our experience was generally positive. The location is convenient and easy to find, just a 15 minute drive from the Kennebunk beaches & half an hour from Ogunquit.

In May 2007, I sent a 1 month deposit to rent a room from Sept 2007 to May 2008 while I was attending a school the this area. At the end of June my plans changed and I called to cancell that reservation and have my deposit returned. Today, Sept 24, 2007 I was informed that I would not receive my deposit(this is after 3 months of trying to obtain my deposit). I have been informed that the policy of the Arundel Meadows Inn is no refund unless they can re-rent the room. Nowhere does their web site state this policy. Be VERY careful about reserving a space at the Arundel Meadows Inn. This cost me $500; what might it cost you?

This inn is in terrible condition-inside and out. It does not resemble the pictures on the web site. The pictures on the internet are of a lovely inn with spacious rooms. All the pitures must have been airbrushed! We stayed one night and did not sleep at all due to the noise on US 1. The inn is just feet off the highway. The room was in terrible shape. The air conditioner has been removed because it was the "end of the season". It was Labor Day weekend and very warm. There was a small fan in the window. I do not believe that the roon ever had an air conditioner. The bathroom was so small that it was difficult to turn aound in it. It was late when we arrived and we were in a state of shock when we saw the inn. We did stay that one night and moved to a local motel the next day. Yes, the inkkeper will tell you how wonderful the inn is. But what he believes and what is reality are two different things. If there was a rating less than "awful" I would use that to rate this place.

I have stayed here several times and have always enjoyed my stay very much. While small and slightly overfilled with furniture, my room was clean and comfortable. The hosts were charming and the breakfasts delicious.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. I felt more like I was visiting friends in their home. The food was excellent, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and stocked with fire wood. The hot tub in the converted barn was a real plus!

My husband and I picked Arundel Meadows Inn as a spot for our honeymoon in October of 2004 as it was depicted on line as a quaint, clean-looking farm house that offered what we thought was alot for our money - a nice, large room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi on site. However, when we arrived, the place was filthy and smelled terribly of smoke and carpet freshner. The rooms looked nothing like what we viewed on line. On arrival, we noted the beautifully maintained inn depicted in the website isn't situated up off the road as it appears, but is actually very close to the road and run down. We waited a good five minutes for someone to come to the door to let us in. We were told that our room would have a romantic fireplace to use, but found that the fireplace was very close to the bed and no wood was offered. Although the host was personable, the inn was a dissappointment to us and do not recommend it to others.
