Shabby
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/09
Booked a 2 night deal with breakfasts included on the net for a small holiday in Wellington .When we booked in our reservation was not on their computer .As we had reciepts we were given a room .Place looked shabby as soon as you walked in .Doesn't look like it has had a refurbishment since it was built. Were given instructions to ask the cleaners on the floor our room was on to unlock the door for us into our room, there was no key at reception.Did not think this meant there was actually no key at all for the room and a master key was needed .So each time we needed the room unlocked reception had to follow us up to unlock . The lift made so much noise that we used the stairs to go to the fourth floor as it sounded way to unsafe . The room was dated and shabby .The wall paper is peeling the woodwork and paint is chipped and dented badly .The curtains were ripped .The bathroom was ok and had good shower pressure .NO Sky TV that was a dissapointment as it is advertised as having it . We ordered our breafast into our room ( Continental ) .What we got was different to what we ordered as they didn't have what we ordered .To top it off the milk was lumpy and after inspection turned out to be powered milk . This hotel needs a major make over and clean up .To go to Wellington for a weekend away and stay there was a disapointment .It looked ok on the web sites .If we had not already paid on the net as we had we would have found another Hotel .It was easier to stay than try to get money back .

Room for improvement!
By Hilary, 3/4/07
The position is brilliant, opposite the Botanical Gardens and close to bus service into the city. The room was tired with peeling wallpaper, scaffolding outside the window, cockroaches (only two - but one on a pillow - and they probably had plenty of friends hidden away!) and the overall appearance of public areas was also shabby. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful. Some weren't! I would like to go back when the new owners have sorted out the neglect of years.

Will not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/06
The room above ours became waterlogged during a rainstorm. It appeared that very little effort had been made to address the problem. Water came through the ceiling and onto our luggage which became wet through. The laundry where we had to dry our clothes was filthy and the hotel was generally tired. I was not impressed by the management's attitude, although in fairness, some of the general staff were pleasant and sympathetic to our plight. I cannot recommend this hotel until something is done to refurbish it and until management shows more concern for their customers.

You'd have to pay me to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/06
While the reception and restaurant staff tried hard, the hotel is run down and dated. The room was not properly serviced, the bathroom ceiling was covered in mould and there was a tacky piece of nylon rope to open the bathroom vent. Reception was friendly. The waiter in the restaurant was nice but the food was not worth the money. The location is good. This is a hotel that would be worth doing up and modernising. I wouldn't go their until then.
