The Menzies Sydney, Sydney

The location was fantastic! When we first approached the building I thought this would be a fabulous place. Very impressed with the lobby. Got checked into our room, get to the room and there was a baby crib in there. Called front desk and housekeeping removed it promptly. Room was very small. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. The coils squeaked when you sat on the bed and I could feel them when I laid on the bed. We arrived late on a Sunday. Went down stairs and asked the Concierge where there was a good place to get something to eat. He sent us to a restaruant just down the road. We walked there to find the place was closed. We returned to the hotel and asked again. He sent us a little further this time. We were walking. Second place he sent us to was also closed. One would think the Concierge of a local hotel would know the hours of the local restaurants! We ended up walking about 5 miles before we found a mediocre place to eat. The first morning we went to breakfast the lady checking us into the dining area told us we needed some kind of pink pass to get in without paying. Our breakfast was prepaid and this was not mentioned until this moment. After arguing with the lady we were allowed to enter. Back to the rooms. We had no washcloths in the room, only bath towels. We called to request some washcloths which were provided. The next day when the room was cleaned the washcloths were removed even though they were hanging in the shower. We called to request more and were told they were told not to supply them anymore. After a bit of a heated conversation, we were told if they had some they would be delivered. They were delivered later on. Overall I was very disappointed with the service at this hotel, except for housekeeping. The room would have been fine except for beds that should have been replaced a long time ago.

I loved staying at the Menzies for the simple reason of location. When you go to Sydney that is the most important thing to consider. You can walk just about anywhere from the Menzies. Plus when you get inside the Menzies you realize it also is very classy and nice. The price is affordable. Finally, the staff will help you with whatever advice you need on Sydney. Great place to stay!

Everything better than expected, according to reviews I had read. Breakfast was very good, hot, lots to choose from. Rooms very nice and clean. Bar well stocked and refrigerator stocked. Staff was exceptional, anything you needed the conciege was prompt at anything you requested. They are going green as one review said but all you had to do was ask for more washcloths. Beautiful place to stay,every thing within walking distance, if you don't want to walk, the train station in right across the street, behind motel is bus stops. I got a smart card pass with transportation which was a life saver. go to viator .com gets you into just about anything you want to do. we recouped our money in 2days. Can't to go back to Australia. Wonderful places to eat, Geovanni's is Awesome, St. Patricks is a little hideaway, bar and Grill which is just great. Ask the conciege he will point you in the right direction. L. This hotel is in a great location. Within walking distance of the opera house , harbor, etc. the train station is just infront of the hotel. Staff was ok and the room was clean and fine. There a great restaurants all over the area so if you decide to eat in the hotel it will be a little expensive than going out.

The room was clean, however, one could hear the neighboring guests using the lavatory very clearly. If we wanted to spend time in the room, we would have been truly disappointed, but given that it was simply a place to sleep and bathe, it was okay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was huge and very comfortable and clean.And the hotel is perfectly situated for both shopping and sightseeing.
