Second Visit a Must!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/07
There was nothing to dislike (or nothing that we could fault) at all about this hotel. The staff were super friendly and efficient and understood enough english for us to communicate. The room was very well equipped and comfortable - with the warmed/electronic toilets being a bit of a novelty for us! The hotel had a wide variety of food outlets and restaurants - something to suit everyone's mood and budget. We will not choose anywhere else to stay but The Palace on our return trip to this fabulous country. Thank you.

Quiet, Luxury, Service
By Patricia, 1/29/07
Arriving at the Palace Hotel is something I look forward to every time I am in Japan. The hotel is small and personal, without that city-within-a-city feeling of some of the huge expensive hotels. It is a short walk from Tokyo Station, right next to a subway station, and taxi are always ready at the door. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They can find anything I need, direct me to any location I need to find, and recommend the perfect restaurants. When I call for ice, there is someone at my door before I set the phone down! There are many places to eat in the nearby Marunouchi building and Tokyo station. The restaurants in the hotel are exquisite, but expensive. Save them for a splurge dinner and you won't be sorry! The breakfast buffet, however, is an excellent value with tables looking out over the garden area. Great way to start the morning. Rooms are beautifully furnished with lovely comfortable beds and linens. Everything is spotlessly clean and simple yet elegant. I just read that the rooms have been updated this past year, so I look forward to my visit next month! It is rare that an older hotel like the Palace is so well maintained, frequently they are left to deteriorate and then replaced. I'm glad they have kept this one so beautiful.

The only place I'd ever stay in Tokyo!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/05
Visited in 2004 and was amazed at the personal attention and service. As an American I thought I'd have to find an ice machine - no such thing at the Palace Hotel - just call room service 24 hours a day for a complimentary bucket of ice delivered to your door. Very understanding of my confusion over how to use hotel laundry service - in Japan you just call down and then leave the laundry in a bag outside your door. Reasonable ($10/day) high speed internet access. Reasonably priced restaurant in the lowest level.

Room With a View of Royalty!
By cousette, 9/2/04
We visited Tokyo in 2000 and stayed in the Palace Hotel. This is not the high-tech, impersonal style of many modern hotels. Instead, this is a stately grand hotel across the street from the Imperial Palace. In bustling Tokyo, this is an oasis of calm and old-world Japan. While all the rooms and accommodations are modernized, you feel the stately presence of the Imperial Palace. Windows still open and you can smell fresh air and hear the birds. In the morning, you can walk the grounds of the Imperial Palace, and you can see a group of senior women volunteers who go in to clean the Palace. Guards are present and remind visitors that this is royal grounds and not to jog or behave disrespectfully. You can walk on the crunch of gravel around the entire Palace, a lake, and the block in the center of bustling Tokyo. Then return to the Hotel for a serene meal or rest. When you leave, as we did on a tour bus, management comes to the door and bows and waves, thanking you for your visit! This is where I'd want to retire to every evening after going out into the hustle and bustle of modern Tokyo. Where else can you stay in a hotel across the street from a Palace?
