WORST 5 STAR HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/11
Recently went on a 'relaxing' 11 night stay at the Patra Hotel - Bali.
Well, where to begin?? - firstly
We were charged $50 (by our delusional Travel Agent) airport transfer fee to/from Hotel/Airport - reasonable i thought, till we did the journey & realised that for approx. $2 we could have done it ourselves as it was the shortest distance I have EVER travelled to an airport, I actually thought they were joking. We were that close to the airport I could read the writing on the planes landing & taking off.
The rooms aircon did'nt work, but we were offered an upgrade to a villa for only $400 Aus. Dollars (mmmm!!!). The telly was so ancient & small, we had to buy binoculars to view it, NO DVD to check ur 'rip off' DVD's with.
The showers are step-in a bath type, very dangerous if ur not a light foot.
The pool was chlorinated but never saw anyone actually clean it, the tiles had 'BLACK' scum around (NO JOKE).
Lots of Indonesian guests staying there (its a government hotel) very nice people, not a problem there, but I do object to them continuously 'GOBBING' (and i do mean gobbing) in the pool. Several people told them off, but they just dont 'get it'. obviously its acceptable to them.
Tried to read a book in the relaxing ambiance of the pool area, only to be greeted to both bars (in very close proximity to each other) competing for the loudest "BOOM/BOOM' music imaginable from 9.00am onward, thankfully one Canadian guest asked them to change the CD as it had been played 3 times in succession.
Practically every day they had an 'Event' of some sort, which meant the guests were all moved from the pool area to accomodate the table & chairs.
Everything looked diry & black (just like old London town used to be) mind you! as we left we did notice that they finally got the 'Karcher' out and to my suprise - the stage area was 'Terrecotta' in colour.
People were 'SMOKING' everywhere, in hotel lobby, all pool areas even inside the breakfast seating area, absolutely disgusting.
Nice staff but definately NOT worth the money we paid, take my advise, move along the path a bit - there are some stunning looking holtels along the way.
Do yourselves a favour, book elsewhere - DEFINATELY NOT 5 star standard that Aussies and/or Europeans expect and are wiling to pay for.
