Remote, peaceful retreat. I did not have the same experience as the earlier reviewers. Yes there were mosquitos but if you apply spray it's wasn't a major issue and I normally get bitten. I stayed in garden cottage, and whilst it was a little expensive it was worth it. The seafood restaurant was great. Staff friendly, beach great - although shell sellers were persistent. I would visit again.

I got to stay here during a business trip in November. The hotel is right on the Bay of Bengal and is quite beautiful although extremely remote. I don’t think it is close to anything! Lobby – Beautiful open air lobby. Unfortunately it was positively swarming with mosquitoes! We were moved to an air conditioned library type of room while we waiting for our check in to be completed. We were given fresh fruit juice and cold towels during our wait. We were then led to our rooms. Room/bungalow – Those in my group were booked into the private bungalow’s. These are very nice private little bungalow. Each bungalow had its own patio, hammock and beautiful view of the Bay of Bengal. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were so terrible; I did not get a chance to enjoy it but it was very picturesque. The room was quite lovely with dark beamed ceilings and colorful paintings. Unfortunately it smelled slightly musty and you could see a watermark on the walls about a foot and a half up when the tsunami flooded the resort…or so I was told that was the cause. The room was quite spacious. I had my own sofa, king size bed, a couple of chairs and an entertainment center. The bathroom was equally large and included a soaking tub and separate shower stall. There was a toilet and bidet as well. Unfortunately for me, I found the bed to be very hard and the pillows very flat. This is a pet peeve of mine. They are charging nearly $400 a night for a room and they could not provide me with a decent mattress or pillows. Service – Was ok. It was not bad mind you, but I have certainly had friendlier and more courteous service at much less expensive hotels. No one seemed all that happy to be there. Internet Service – Was never able to get connected. They only allow one VPN connection at a time and I was traveling with a group and despite our best efforts, none of us was unable to get connected. Other stuff – Be aware they require 48 hours notification to cancel a room. Our flights got changed our last day and we ended up leaving a day early but were still charged the full price for our rooms because we were giving only 24 hours notice!!!

This superbly situated resort is a joy. Wonderful attentive service. Good food. Easy access to Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram and many other sites of great interest. The references to " bugs" I find hilarious. If you stay in one of the cottages or villas you are right on a tropical beach for heavens sake ! We saw the odd ant, but we did not bother them or they us. Frankly if you are one of those obssesional British or American tourists who require a sterile lab. environment to live in, or if you require belly dancers or bingo of an evening, this may not be the place for you. If you enjoy a quiet, laid-back, and beautiful destination however, this is one.

I would not recommend fisherman's cove to my worst enemy. This is not a 5 star resort what so ever. Maybe a 2 or 3 star resort. I had to come to chennai india for business. I decided to stay at the cove just to get away from the aweful city. But if I have to come back to chennai I will NOT stay at the cove. I am consistanly killing bugs in my room and recently discovered bed bugs! Oh what a treat that is. I signed on to internet service while I am here for business and it only works half the time. When I call down for help on this matter, they send someone up and it still doesn't work. When I requested at least some of my refund from the internet cost (which was grossly overpriced) they tell me they will get back to me and then I do not hear from them again...people beware I would not stay here for 200.00 bucks a night, it makes Motel 6 look like a luxury hotel. Don't make the same mistake I have.

I think it's great to stay in fisherman's because it has the best surroundings along the coast,a cool atmosphere , a good place for a natural ,lively outing. its GREAT..

Check in was quick and efficient. My room was great. Spacious and very private. I like the outdoor shower. The pool is big but not very deep. The beach attendants are available and helpful. The gym is well equiped with the standard bike and treadmill. The beach is right there. Two dining options are available but sadly I had only one night to try one resturant. The seafood combo I had was great looking over the beach and watching the waves roll in at night. This is one hotel I want to go back to and do nothing.

It is the neatest beach resort i have seen and yet so close to a mojor city This must be heaven

only 15 minutes from a major city (chennai), fisherman's cove is the perfect Indian getaway if you want both citylife and resort style beach life in one setting. the sunrises are magnificent and worth waking up for.
