The Gateway Hotel Fatehabad, Agra

Not a very good experience in this hotel... We have stayed in other hotels of the Taj group which were much much better! When we arrived, there was no electricity in our whole floor... I would expect them to put us in a room in a different floor, but instead, they asked to wait "only 15 minutes"... It took more than 30 minutes... The room was smelly and the whole hotel looks a bit old. Needs some renovation. The great thing about this hotel (the only great thing) is the Taj Mahal view! All in all, I would say it was not a very good experience because of the money we paid! For the price, I was expecting more...

This was actually our first time to Agra. We have been to India before, but did not get the chance to see the Taj Mahal the first time, so we were really excited. When we got to Agra we didn't realize that the Taj Mahal was closed on Fridays so we had to spend the night since we had driven there from Delhi and didn't want to drive back the next day. When we first got there we thought it would be a little pricy since it was so fancy, but we were completly wrong.We didn't have any clothes to wear since we hadn't planned to stay there for the night. We told the staff that, and they sent up five robes for us to use as well as toothbrushes, and toothpaste as well as other things that we may have needed at no additional cost. The next morning we ordered breakfast in our rooms and it was absolutly delicious. The distance from the Taj Mahal was perfect because it only took a little while to get there. The room, the hotel, and the surrounding area such as the garden and pool were beautiful. I'm am an American born Indian, and I thought it was the perfect mix of modern and Indian elegence.
