One of a kind
Seeing all the negative reviews, I had to write something.
We stayed at this hotel twice.
We somehow managed to have a room on the main building , 4th floor, right above the main entrance both times.
My brother and sister preferred to have hotel in the east part of the city. Those hotels are typically newer and more centrally located than the Grant.
As long as you did not get one of those rooms that are inside (with no windows), or in the ancillaries wing, you will not be disappointed. Granted, if you were not looking forward to the Bellagio. By the way, a little hint, Bellagio can be easily found in Vegas.
The Grant is one of the few, if not the only, hotel in Taipei that we can sleep with the Windows opened. Taiwan was too humid for us that were accustomed to the SF Bay Area.
Anyway, the hotel is not the newest, the staff was not the most accommodating, but the rooms were nicely sized, location fairly decent (close the light rail). The building itself, though, is one of a kind. You won't find that in Tokyo, New York, or Beijin.
