Astar Hotel Hualien Chinese Taipei, Hualien City

This is the third time I have stayed at this nice hotel in the past decade. The rooms are comfortable and clean. This is an older property, and not too fancy, but very nicely maintained. The food is very good, the pool is clean and the grounds are very well cared for. But the service is just wonderful. They just can't do enough for you. I was able to get advice, reservations and even train tickets for the rest of my trip at no charge from the expert staff. Even by Taiwan standards, which are quite high, this place stands out. For those like me who would rather be in a smaller well run hotel than a giant ostentatious palace, this is the place to stay in Haulien. And is also a great value for those of us who are not wealthy. Enjoy.

service was good. room was comfortable. location was a little out of the way. i was happy with the price. i'm glad i chose this place because other places in this price range were not in as nice of an area.

It was safe and decent for the price. The location was perfect for where I was traveling and the staff was nice in helping me with directions. Interesting culture and beautiful scenery.
