Nightmare! No kidding.
Am writing a second review on a second stay. The first time I stayed here, I was pretty impressed more or less. This time around it was another story to be told.
I arrived at JKIA late night and with no reservations, I boarded a taxi to the hotel. Just like the first time, the security guys came and helped carry my laggage and headed for check in. First thing I notices was that the elevator car was removed either to be replaced on to be repaired. So i told the front desk clerk that I rather stay on a much lower floor- No problem. I got a room on the second floor. The guys there carried my bags up the stairs to my room. The first time I stayed here last year (2008), I did not get hot water in my room, so I asked about it and they told me that now there is hot water 24/7. But first let's talk about the room. - It looked old, unkept, dirty and the linen looked just as dirty. Last year I was impressed with the linen, I was rather surprised that the linen was that clean last year.
Well, the story about the hot water: There is a red switch that is outside the washroom door that is used to generate hot water. I turned it on then turned tap on. Surprise! Not only was there no hot water, there was NO WATER at all. I was too tired, I then went to sleep - dirty! Throught the night I thought I was hearing water running, but I thought I was dreaming and or was not so sure. Then at about 4 am, there was banging on my door, I thought someone was breaking the door to rob me. Well No, it was the hotel security. The hotel had flooded. Guess where the flooding originated? - My room. I guess as I was trying to get get water for a shower the night before and tehre was no water, I must have left the tap on. And when the water was turned on it started running and hence the flood! As I woke up to the banging on my door, I straight away headed for the washroom and turned the water off, in the process, I was wet from the contruption that they have to heat the water at the shower head, I tried to sleep, but the vehicles outside had intesified their honking and the shoutings were 3 fold. I was tired, wet and saturated with noise. At sunsise, I canoed to the washroom, took a shower, (yes the red switch heats the water if there is water) and headed out of this place.
Forget my story, here is my review: The hotel is now too old, major renovations are needed, They need to get a complete new set of linen. The people are excellent given that they have not much of customer service training. Its Very secure to stay here, they have a night guard on either end of the first few floors.
Good luck.
