Helnan Shepheard Hotel, El Mosky

I gotta say this hotel really was great! P.S. if you use SweetHotelDeals. Net for booking this hotel they usually have some pretty good hotel deals at this time of the year!

I just came from Cairo and I stayed in this hotel, Good location, the service was fine and the breakfast was ok as well. Very large and clean rooms, but the beds were a little hard and uncomfortable. The Hotel has an internet service center (way to expensive about 10 US dollars for one hour) as well as an overprice taxi cab service. Good place if you are planning to stay for few days. Under U.S standards this Hotel would be considered a 3 to 4 star hotel.

but I wouldn't avoid it either if the next time I could book it for much cheaper! Check-in was the slowest I have ever experienced in my life. No hair dryer in room. Staff was okay, but nothing stood out. I booked online and did not get a room facing the Nile, but I survived since this was my 5th trip to Cairo. The hotel has seen better days, but the room was clean and very large. I really don't want to sound negative, but there was nothing special about this hotel. The men in the gift shop were pushy and rude, which the rude part is unusual (in my experience) for Cairo. Room service was standard Cairo fare, but not as good as other hotels at which I've stayed. The restaurants were very clean and there were nice views of the streets if you like to watch people as I do! Lots of shops and places to eat in the vicinity within walking distance.

THE BOOKING THRU THE NET WAS FOR A STANDARD ROOM. THEY CHARGE USD 20 PER DAY EXTRA IF U WANT A NILE FACING ROOM. THE BREAKFAST WAS AVERAGE BUT THE DINING AREA WAS INFESTED WITH FLIES OVER THE OPEN FOOD. FOOD AT THE ASIA HOUSE WAS GOOD. THE ROOM'S EXCELLENT NILE VIEW WAS MARRED BY THE TERRIBLE TRAFFIC NOISE FROM THE ROAD(WE WERE ON THE 5TH FLR), LACK OF A SAFE IN THE ROOM, POOR QUALITY MATTRESSES THAT SAG IN THE MIDDLE & NO HAIR DRYER IN THE TOILET. ALSO THE TAXI INCHARGE CONCIERGE QUOTES INFLATED PRICES. HOWEVER THE NILE VIEW WAS STUNNING & PROBABLY WORTH THE EXTRA 20 USD.

The Shepheard is perfectly located to go to the Museum and explore downtown Cairo. The Indian restaurant is very good, and the rooms are wonderful. The bed was one of the best i've ever slept in. I'm sorry that the fine bookshop had to give way to a casino. Helpeful and friendly staff, excellent food. Perfect location.
