Amazing
By Nichole, 11/1/05
Fisherman's Village resort itself is what it says a peaceful, relazing place to stay. Beautiful, clean rooms and great service. The food is awesome, different tastes of everything every night, and the location is awesome. Only a 10-15 minutes walk to Playa del Carmen for shopping, and the ferry to Cozumel. We were down at Fisherman's Village in October of 2005 spent 5 nights at the resort before getting shuttled to a shelter because of hurricane Wilma. The Service and hospitality is the #1 reason i would go back to any Sunset resort. These people/ staff were amazing from orgazing us to go to a shelter to working 24/7 to keep all 640 of us safe and calm during the hurricane. During the hurricane we ate 2 delicious meals a day, had water and a roof over a head and clean floor. I can not express enough how wonderful the staff/ and resort is and they do look out for every single one of their guests.

Caution
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/05
We were told we were one of the first twenty memberships sold at Fisherman's. (We also have a membership at the sister resorts in Cancun - Hotel Sunset). We were told we were GUARANTEED space ANYTIME of the year, regardless of when we called for reservations. (Our contract technically said we needed to call 60 days in advance to be assured space). We tried to make reservations in July of 2004 for November of 2004 and were told there was no space. After much stressful correspondence etc. I finally threatened to get an attorney. All of a sudden they had a cancellation for one of the two weeks we'd planned on being there. Like one member has said, the management company is very difficult to communicate with and not at all helpful. We have been there twice so far and have had problems both times. We were sold a three-bath/bedroom plan in the new towers only to find that when they were built they had only two baths and two bedrooms. That made us, and the two couples who went with us, very disappointed. We ended up sharing one bath for two couples. In effect, they sold us a three-bath/bed but only built a two-bath/bed. When I complained they said they had fired the salesman that sold the unit(s) to us. Also commented "what else can we say and do?" (I asked for a one-third refund of our purchase price but they refused to do anything but give us a free "corporate week" - whatever that is). If you want a stressful time getting your vacation scheduled and then not getting what you think you paid for, then buy a membership at Fishermen's Village!

Restful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/05
Fisherman's was a very quite resort. Much smaller than the resorts we walked past on the beach which made it a wonderfully restful experience. If you want nightlife, it is a short walk along the beach to Playa del Carmen. The staff was very helpful.

great location, great views
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/05
This place is small and quaint, just like we like it. The water is absolutly beautiful and the grounds are done top notch. All the rooms have a fantastic view of the beach and ocean. It is a 5 minute walk into play del carman where all the shopping eating and night life is. The resort is in a gated community so it is safe and quite.

Mexico-my new home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/30/05
*Hola* I highly recommend the Fisherman's Village in Playa del Carmen. I received beyond my expectation of a vacation. The rooms are beautiful, clean with a spectacular view of the ocean. The meals will nourish any hungry soul, one plate will lead you for more. This resort is within walking distance to all the amenities. I was truly impressed with the resort staff, Gillberto, Jose', Luis, Antonio, Aurelio,Migual, Luis(2), Marco, and more. These employee's of this resort, truly made Mexico a place to which I shall return. If the sun don't warm you, these members of this resort will warm your heart. As we reflect on all our vacations, the kindness is why we return to a place we can call home.

Fisherman's Village - Playa del Carmen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/04
We stayed at Fisherman's Village and think that the resort is very nice. The units, location and beach are great. The restaurant is above average and has reasonable prices. HOWEVER, the time share group is very pushy. We ended up buying there and really regret it. While the Resort really is nice, the management company is very difficult to work with. They seem to sell more of Fisherman's than they have capacity to deliver. They own two (lesser quality) properties in Cancun and try to offer those in lieu of Fisherman's. If you are patient and assertive Fisherman's may be right for you, but we had difficulty booking (non-holiday, high season weeks) 9 months out! Good Luck!
