GOOD for timeshare TRADING!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/11
WE too ended up after MUCH pressure buying a small timeshare package from Fisherman's Village. WE liked the idea, at the time of NOT having the all inclusive (which they offered us), because my Husband has diabetes. We can better regulate his food intake ourselves. We have tried numberous times to book back there, only to find NO availability! BUT the bonus has been that we have traded to Palm Desert and Maui. That has been GREAT! We'll just be spending our vacation dollars somewhere else.

Fabulous place, fabulous food!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/10
Absolutely LOVE this place. It is our favorite place in Mexico. Excellent staff and service. it is small and quaint and there aren't many places left like that anymore. Within walking distance of Playa Del Carmen's 5th Ave., it is a charming retreat. It isn't the most elegant or the largest or the most fancy time share resort but it is the most beautiful and comfortable. The staff make you feel like "familia". Food in past years has been horrible and the one drawback. We went in Dec. and January of this year and I can honestly say the food was world class. Everything from the sea bass with shrimp stuffed risotto to the Grouper to the steaks were fabulous. The soups were exquisite and the Mayan coffee to die for! The specialty sandwiches for lunch were awesome too. The food was always the only thing we didn't like and now they have turned the kitchen around!

Love the place Fishermans Heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/09
Our third visit to Fisherman's and we love the place. close enough to town and off the beaten track. Staff are great and Luis is one of a kind and makes the place upbeat and fun!! Bar closes a little early however this is minor issue if you need to drink later go into town or buy cheap booze at Wallmart and invite over some freinds.

Fun in the Sun , but no beauties at the beach.
By modena006, 3/3/09
The location is perfect as is the beach and pool. Food is only so so. Rooms were above average and the staff really does a great job. Only negative is it is a time share and sales staff is pushy. They also tend to oversell. I wish it was just a hotel/resort not a time share.

Time Share Trap is very fishy at Fisherman's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/08
While celebrating our anniversary with our 2 kids in January of 2006 we were aproached in the Cancun Airport by Sunset Group's official looking peeps in uniforms. They offered us free attraction tickets in exchange for listening to a 90 minute time share presentation at Sunset Fiherman's Village in Playa del Carmen. After 6 hours of high pressure sales tactics and promises of guarenteed rental income and investment as well as availability, we paid in full $14,000 of our hard earned money for a one bedroom suite. We also threw away $540 on a rental company in Florida who did nothing for us. Long story short, when we were first eligable to use the place there was absolutely no availability and they offered us a mandatory all inclusive in Cancun or nothing. We have filed complaints with Profeco, Mastercard and RCI and are seeking a full refund and termination of our contract and will never give up until justice has been served. Beware of all time share scams epecially in Mexico with Royal Sunset/Sunset Group.

DON\"T BUY TIMESHARE!!!!
By Darren P, 10/5/08
Was a very well situated resort..close to town...beautiful street appeal...inside the room we were shown was beautiful as was the inside of the resort...Timeshare personnel VERY determined and refuse to give up...Had same experience with the company in Florida to rent our weeks out...NOT ONE RENTAL...and when we tried to finally try to get a time at Fisherman's resort or any of the other sister resorts we were told no room or the all inclusive rate was applicable and not only that but it had doubled from the cost we were original were quoted...we were told we would not have to do an all inclusive at that resort ever...change of tune later though...We never ever got our RCI book from them...even though we call twice...Last week they called for referrals for their new resort...not a chance..put my family and friends though that ...

Our Mexico Favorite
By DavidN, 7/7/08
My wife and I found this resort in 2005 and fell in love with it. We've been back three times since and look forward to retirement, so we can spend more time in Playacar and Fisherman's Village. The resort is in Playacar, just blocks and walking distance from Playa del Carmen and the docks to Cosumel. It's a small resort, so you have a lot of privacy on the beach and in the pool. They also have a private beach two blocks north of the resort with trees, showers, a snack bar and picnic tables. There is a restaurant, bar, spa, exercise room, laundry and many recreational activities on-site. There are bikes you can borrow and many beach activities.

A good sales pitch
By crossman, 4/25/08
A nice place. I do not think one can make an educated time-share purchase decision based on the high pressure, noisy and distracting environment that the presentation is held in. Also realize that the onus is on you to "rent" your unused weeks. Pray you have an unending supply of willing renters/friends and have the time to dedicate to this task of "rental" time-share management. I think the purchase price is grossly inflated (X2 market) - just price all the units for sale enroute to fifth street, let alone the for sale signs hanging on the facade of Fisherman's Village. The daily meal/drink package is too expensive for food that is made en-mass, and of marginal quality. Skip the equestrian/marina package and pay for these privately, upon demand.

Qs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/08
Their bottom line in selling was that: "worse thing that can happen is that we buy it back from you." Has anyone ever sold back to them? How was that experience?

Great Resort, Bad Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/08
The Hotel was private and "hidden away" which we loved. The atmosphere and beachfront were great. The only problem we had was with the food in the restaurants- It was AWFUL, with limited choices. Skip the meal plan if you go- Eat out!!
