Charming and Comfortable
By ,
I loved this hotel and it was a great welcome for my first visit to Starkville. The owner, Dave, was the one who checked us in and he made sure we had everything we needed, including some nice conversations. The rooms were clean and comfortable in maybe a little small. We got upgraded to a King size and the bed was heavenly soft. The included, made to order breakfasts really hit the spot, especially the southern eggs Benedict The website is a little outdated as it says the adjoined restaurant is Sushi on Main when it is now Sugoi, an amazing Asian fusion restaurant. Overall, I was really charmed by Hotel Chester!

Horrible Management
By ,
Not antique style, just old. They kicked me out of my room on day two, after their staff failed to take a correct resevation for my second night there(Co-worker in another room for two nights made by the exact same travel agent at the same time). They did not refund the half day and the management hides behind the staff. Once I was finally able to speak with him, he cursed at me, referenced a sister company that had nothing to do with this stay. Showed no compassion or even good customer service skills. This was a corporate travel, but NEVER, EVER AGAIN WILL WE PLACE SOMEONE THERE OR EVEN RECOMMEND THIS GOD AWFUL PLACE. Hotel Cheatster!

Very Nice
This is a nice hotel in a great location in downtown and very close to the campus. Very clean, friendly staff, and hot employees. Me and my buddies stay there for the football games and its just a charming and nice hotel compared to the usual "inns" we usually stay at so im glad I found out about it.

Great Find! Enjoyed it very much.
By ,
I really liked my room. I had a view of all the shops in downtown which got me exited to shop! Service was good and everybody was nice including the staff in the restaurant that connects with the hotel. The free breakfast was actually a real hot breakfast. They had stuff like pancakes and hashbrown on their menu and service was quick.

First of all its located right in downtown so I walked to all the nice restaurants and cool shops. The complimentary breakfast was very good. I had Belgian Waffles and sausage. And the hotel is connected to an awesome restarant so everything was very convinient and I had a nice view of downtown as well. But im so jealous of the people who stayed there the night before cuz Snoop Stayed there!! But i hear all the famous people stay there when they have a gig in that town so i'll keep my fingers crossed til next time!!!

The most wonderful hotel in the south
By ,
There weren't any dislikes the staff was very nice. They greeted me with a open arm feeling and I truly felt like I had been there before, but it was my 1st time. The brkfst was outstanding it wasn't the normal continental brkfst it was made to order(hot. My room was on the 3rd floor and I really was pleased becuz of the reviews I had read before I didn't know what to exspect. My room was a very nice large king size room like the one thats previewed. It was very clean and the sheets were nice and white. My stay was very no outstanding and I will most certainly refer my collegues and I will be back myself.

Historic my foot - place is old and dirty
By ,
This hotel is advertised as historic and quaint. It is just old and nasty. The hotel is ugly, the rooms are hard to access with luggage. The service is poor. And the overall place is run down and unclean. We were in a Cabana room. this simply means you access the room from the outside. Our view was of industrial air conditioners. There is no hotel parking,; you must park in a city lot around the corner. There is not even parking for checking in. This hotel is an extremely poor value. If you are looking for comfort or charm I advise you to look elsewhere.

You Get What You Pay for
By ,
I have no clue who posted the reviews for this hotel, but they obviously were mistaken or have very low standards. First of all, the hotel is located in the one of the worst parts of the city: the edge of down town. Second, I read about several amenities offered and only witnessed two....? The hotel itself is not the cleanest, and the room I was in was disgusting and extremely small. Because of the fact that every other hotel in Starkville was booked, I did have to sleep there; I bought sheets from the local Wal Mart to cover the filth they called linen. I was told that each room was inspected twice for cleanliness. Someone was definitely sleeping on the job--this was even after I requested to be moved to a different room. They were both filthy. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had.

Bad experience...
By ,
We got one of the rooms in an old addition, that overlooked the roof, and was tiny. A security light from the outside flooded this tiny space all night. In the morning, we were awakened at 8:00 by maid service. They came again at 8:30 am and at 9:00 am. I explained each time we were leaving sat 11:00.Pressured, we hurridly packed, and went down to breakfast arriving 30 minutes before 10:00 am, closing time. The breakfast staff of one was rude: abrupt, discoutious, cold and hardly helpful. Hardly a ray of sunshine. She eventually did come take our order. While we waited (it was by now 10:20) other staff appeared, told us breakfast was over, and preceeded to move out the tables and chairs from the room. There were several occupied tables, eating. We all watched in amazemnet as they vacatde the room of anything that was not held down by a guest. Ou food arrived and it did look great, a full breakfast. At that same time however, two staffers started vacumming, even under our table. The other guests were furious and so was I. We took our plate and left.
