Worth it!

My wife and I visited this hotel between 18-25 June 2006. At first, seeing all the reviews we were pretty concerned about what we were going to experience at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that on first arrival, everything seemed in order and we had no real complaints to make.
The big thing to remember is this: This is a 3 star hotel...and don't therefore expect any better than that! For what we paid for our all inclusive holiday, we certainly got our monies worth!
The hotel has got one of the best pools that we have ever seen and a fantastic beach with calm and clear water. There is a pool bar that opens around 10 and serves drinks throughout the day.
Food: Well this is something a lot of people have been critical of in some reviews...There is nothing wrong with the food at all, there were always plenty to choose from, BUT if you are looking for your standard food you eat at home, Then stay at home! The food was delicious, warm and always well presented with a great choice.
Staff: They were great and always seemed to try and entertain everyone, morning till night, in their own Tunisian way...Once again, this may not be what you get back home but you are abroad and there are lots of different nationalities to please. In my opinion this hotel is quite a good family destination as the children especially were always kept busy.
See and Do: Get one of the yellow taxis outside the hotel gates, they are metered and won't rip you off. The Medina at Hammamet is the better choice compared to the one at Yasmin Hammamet as the vendors are not as pushy! We were warned prior to our departure to watch out for the pushy vendors who can't take no for an answer...We had no trouble with this, just carry on walking if you aren't interested, don't say anything, just walk. It was actually quite a laugh once we got the hang of it! If you do wish to have a night out, go to Yasmin Hammamet as there are plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs, including some British one's. Most tour operators also offer a good selection of trips.
Security: We felt safe throughout our stay and could go on the beach at night or walk outside the complex at our own will, unlike many other destinations.
If you wish to purchase alcohol or tobacco, do so at the airport, it is a lot cheaper!
Final word of caution: Although we had a good time and enjoyed our stay, a pair of shoes went missing from our bedroom, strange......as we had a lot more valueble items around.
All in all, if you are thinking of going here...GO FOR IT!!!- Just remenber, you are a short way away from the Sahara desert, it gets HOT!
