It's in Headingley but, Leeds is a ten minute bus trip
This was our first hotel experience in England. We stayed for two weeks, using Leeds as a springboard to explore the North of England. Headingley is comparable to a US University town; vibrant, fun and great fast food options. We stayed in three different rooms, while at The Butler's. This room shifting happened because of an aborted trip to Dublin, Ireland. After our horrible experience with the bus-tour company, we called The Butler's and wondered if they had any room for us. We both had colds and were crushed at missing the Dublin trip. In the words of Liz, one of the staff, "Get yourself over here. If I have to put you up at my own house, you'll have somewhere to stay". The staff nursed us back to health, with many BLT's(the best we've ever had) and countless pots of tea. The breakfasts (minus the artery-clogging fried bread) were the best we had in England. The dinner's were also excellent. The final room we stayed in, because of booking restrictions (after all, we did put them on the spot), was the Captain Cook room. The bed was too small for the two of us but, we really can't complain about that. Besides, my wife is a direct descendent of the great explorer. Overall, having good food, friendly staff and a great location, The Butler's is the hotel, if we can afford to, we would stay at every year we can go to the north of England. A few travel stats: by train, Sheffield(45 mins), Manchester(35 mins), Liverpool(1hr 30min), York(40min) and Newcastle(2hr).
