OK, but not great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/11
Just came back from a stay. It was OK, meaning that it was a place to sleep but not all the website and pictures promised. We definitely did not want to spend any more time in our rooms than necessary. Hospitality was so-so. Cleanliness was passable - not overtly dirty, but the shower had a yellow ring throughout, the hot and cold were very very hard to control and the towels smelled sour as soon as they got a little damp. The shower would flash scalding hot then icy cold if someone flushed a toilet (even in an adjacent cabin), so be careful showering your small children. The playground was overtaken with cobwebs and could benefit from a hose-down. Dragonflies were plentiful, which was great for mosquito control, but we also had a few wasps living below our front step. The place has some nice ideas, like the grills with charcoal provided. There is also a common gathering area with a foosball table (no balls available) and fireplace. In the same area is a kids table with legos and small toys so dirty I would not let my kids even touch them, and a couple shelves full of books so old, dusty and worn out that apparently no one will even borrow them. The beds are extra firm, so good if you like that, but my husband and I will be headed to the chiropractor to regain full mobility of our necks! All in all, it's cheaper than most hotel chains and much cheaper than the nice resorts, but you get what you pay for. If you were looking for an inexpensive gathering place for a family reunion with a lot of kids, there is plenty of space to just let them run around, but I would never dream of going back .

Good But...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/10
My family recently stayed at the resort, and we had a great time. It is VERY close to lake Superior. The owners are very nice and friendly. The resort is great for kids, with a pool, mini golf, swing set, volleyball courts and more. We thought our room was nice and clean. But, About a week after we got back, our heads began to itch. Last night we figured out we had lice. Our heads wern't itchy before. Now, We don't know for sure if we got lice from here, but we are thinking it is from the pillows. So, if you go, we recomend you bring pillows and clean sheets.

Definitely going back!
By b, 6/25/10
Had the most awesome and relaxing vacation there! Spent a week there this year and will go back! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and don't mind taking a few minutes to converse with you! The neighboring guests were pretty friendly too, happy to say a good morning as they walked by while we were sitting on our own little deck. Some might think the rooms are a bit small, (our room had a kitchenette, living area, bathroom, and separate bedroom) but we were very content with two adults, a 16 year old and a ten year old in our room. And the place was clean and comfortable. The included amenities were fabulous for the price of our weeklong stay, including free use of the pool, the mini golf course, daily cleaning services, free charcoal and lighter fluid (you kinda have to share a grill & picnic table with your neighbors however, but we made do), a fire pit, and more. The room we had was also stocked with all the kitchen supplies we needed (plates, cups, silverware, utensils, pots & pans and a coffee maker). The staff was awesome too, and any time we needed something, all we had to do was ask and if it was available, we got it (and with a smile too)! It was nice and quiet and peaceful, and I wish I could have stayed another week or two! Pretty convenient location (for me anyway), about 5 minutes or so outside Duluth, and maybe 15 from Two Harbors! Just out of the way enough to enjoy the quiet, but close enough if we needed anything. Had an awesome time! Definitely going to try to get back there next year (Just maybe not during Grandma's Marathon weekend, which conveniently enough ran right in front of the resort, but can make getting in and out of the area a little difficult until the afternoon).

Very pleasantly surprised!
By Sharon M, 9/15/08
We love to stay at the 'Mom & Pop' type of places because of the value for the $$$ and you usually are not treated as 'just a customer'....and Lake Breeze Resort was all of that and more! The owners were very accommodating and friendly-anxious to meet all our needs. The room we stayed in was one of their smallest-yet cozy. It was also the CLEANEST room we have ever stayed in-right down to the corners-they must use the white glove test! We hope to get our large extended family together there next summer-there is something to do for everyone- from the little ones, to the 'tweens', to the young adults, to the moms and dads, to the grandparents! And the price is fair and affordable. The view is breathtaking. Even the 'absence' of cable and internet is a plus--we found ourselves taking the time to ENJOY relaxing around the fire-pit, eating toasted marshmallows, playing the guitar and singing, and visiting 'strangers'-getting to know others that we would not have 'bothered' to get to know otherwise! We will definitely be returning in the future--and telling everyone we know about the Lake Breeze Motel Resort!

Don't stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/12/07
Service was lousy, people who own the place were incredibly rude-Please don't waste your time and money. We were not made to feel welcome at all. We were looking for a cozy, family atmosphere and were very disappointed.

Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/07
My wife and I just spent 5 days there for our 30th anniversary. We splurged and rented the jacuzzi suite. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly and have a heck of a sense of humor. The store is open long hours for anything you may need. Everything was clean and the service was good. Even though the motel is 15 minutes from the harbor, personally I find that a plus. This place was so much quieter than your typical motel, that has doors slamming and loud people and tv's keeping you awake late at night. They have plenty of things to do on site, such as their heated swimming pool, mini golf, horseshoes and badminton. I can't find anything to complain about.

Memories of a simpler time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/06
Me, my wife and daughter stayed at the Lake Breeze on February 18th and 19th, 2006. I found my stay to be relaxing and liked having Lake Superior right across the street. We spent the weekend cross country skiing in Gooseberry Falls State Park and at Piedmont park. The lodge reminded me of the simpler, less crowded times of the 1960s and 1970s. I found the motel to be a refreshing departure from the large, commercial hotels in the City of Duluth.

Okay, but not as expected
By smarks85, 3/18/06
The rooms at lake Breeze were very much smaller than expected, basically a room with a bed and a small book with a toilet. Staff were curtious but uninviting and unprofessional. Would be an ok place if you were looking for a bed to sleep in at night, but if you plan to spend any length of time in your room, spend a few more bucks and get a hotel. Also, the Motel was about 15 minutes from town, so going back and forth is a big inconvenience. On the plus side, the rooms did have a home like feeling about them with some personality. Good price, but for a few more bucks, a hotel is so much better.

Great
By WadeN, 11/2/05
Great location just outside of Duluth. VERY, VERY clean. The playground was well maintained, and they had free board games and mini golf that the kids loved. The only downside, was the rooms were smaller than I thought they would be, but great value for the price. We will be staying there again!
