A great romantic getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/9/08
A great place to take your wife for a quiet, romantic surprise. Wonderful hosts, stunning Victorian home and a fine breakfast with pleasant dining companions. Treats left on pillows is a nice touch. Reccomend spending some evening time in a swing on the veranda sipping champagne! Get one of the packages offered and take a couple of the little upgrades. A great value and well worth the returns in romance points with your spouse. Railroad crossing nearby recently closed, so train noise mostly a moot issue now. Fabulous dining right across street at Cedar Grove. Gated, off- street parking a real plus. They have a nice little gift shop too! Since the Belle of the Bends is a small and quiet place (very home-like feel) I highly reccomend it as a place for a honeymoon or anniversary surprise. Also great for older folks who would enjoy the peacefull, elegant atmosphere. No hustle bustle noisiness here!

Great Breakfast!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/12/08
Our stay at the Belle of the Bends was a very pleasant one. Our son traveled with us, and the room we stayed in had two beds. All of their rooms are spacious! Our room was very clean, and though it was a very hot August night, and we are hot-natured people, our air conditioner worked great! The hosts were very cordial, and when we returned to our room, chocolate covered strawberries were awaiting us along with complimentary sodas. The breakfast was great and filling! We had fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes that were out of this world, hash browns, bacon, drop biscuits with jam, orange juice and coffee! The table was decorated with beautiful china and crystal! The home is beautiful and tastefully decorated with antique furnishings! The only negative is that the train does blow its horn when it passes by, but the owners said the crossing is supposed to be closed soon. Ear plugs is provided and we did sleep well on our comfortable mattresses. The outside is very nice, my husband and I watched the sunset over the river on the porch swing! Again, the hosts Dan and Mary, were very nice and made us feel welcomed I highly recommend the Belle of the Bends Bed and Breakfast in Vicksburg!

Southern Hospitality at its Very Best!
By Margaret, 8/12/08
A stay at the Belle of the Bends is an amazing experience. Dan and Mary do everything they can to make their guests feel welcome. They are wonderful hosts and I feel very lucky that they shared their beautiful home with me. The Chocolate Covered Strawberries were a welcome treat on my first day at the Belle. The turndown each day was such a wonderful touch. The breakfasts were incredible: Pancakes with fresh blueberries; fruit, granola and yogurt parfait; scramble eggs; bacon; sausage; stewed apples; cheese grits; fried green tomatoes; french toast; hash browns; apple pecan muffins; homemade biscuits; homemade butter pecan syrup; and homemade strawberry preserves, to name a few of the breakfast items I had during a three day stay. The home is immaculate and has the most beautiful furniture I believe I have ever seen. I truly loved staying at the Belle. I absolutely did not want to leave. The train tracks that run behind the Belle are really not that big of a deal. Sure, you hear the train occasionally, but it's mainly just background noise. I got used to it after the first night. Ear plugs are provided, however, if you choose to use them. Mary also has a very nice gift shop on the premises that should not be missed. I felt so pampered during my visit. I will definitely return to Vicksburg so that I can stay at the Belle of the Bends again. I have recommended the Belle to all of my friends. You cannot go wrong staying here.

Not What We Expected
By Donald, 6/23/08
The property and the rooms are excellent. No complaint . The breakfast killed the deal. Way below what one would expect for $169/night. A trip to Shoney's would have been better by far. Frequent trains passing and honking at all hours 50 yards from the property.

Wish it could have worked out...
By Allyson, 2/18/08
My husband and I went to stay there a couple of weekends ago. It was a beautiful house and had lovely grounds. However, after being there only a couple of hours, I had a medical emergency and had to go to the ER. The one in Vicksburg was so crowded it was easier for us to go back home to the hospital. We left very suddenly and didn't get much of a chance to talk to Dan and Mary. We lost all of our money. We didnt expect a full refund, but some kind of accommodation would have been nice! It was out of our control that we had to leave!

Not a bad place
By Micheal, 3/2/06
My stay at the Belle of the Bends was nothing of what others may have written in their reviews. It seems to be a pleasant enough inn, though. The problem I had is with the trains, which seemed to run through at anytime, morning and night. The good thing is it's situated near two or three other bed and breakfasts of which I was able to tour also. I might try one of them on my next visit.

Always Wonderful
By Mitz, 12/6/05
Recently my husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary with a stay at Belle of the Bends. It was my third stay there this year and my husband's second. We knew from experience that a stay there would make our special occasion even more special. Mary and Dan are the kindest people you will ever meet and always make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The mansion is beautiful and so romantic. There are so many little touches--a homemade cookie or chocolate covered strawberry left for when you return from a day of touring Vicksburg, the bed turned down and the shades already pulled. Breakfast is a real event with lit candles and music. And the food is wonderful. The only bad thing I can say about a stay at the Belle of the Bends is that it will spoil you for all other Bed and Breakfasts! They have recently opened a gift shop too and I found some really girlie things to bring home to my daughters so they could share a little of our trip. I look forward to my next stay there.

The best Honeymoon
This was a wonderful honeymoon, It was very relaxing and we felt like we were at home. We loved guessing what treats were going to be on our bed when we got back in the afternoon. It is in a wonderful location down the road from shopping and a little drive to the casino's. They are such wonderful people. Ms. Mary waited up for us to get their and it was late when we go their. They make you feel like one of the family. If God's willing we will be back in a year on October the 15th. We want to thank you very much...

No better choice in Vicksburg
By ChristianW, 10/25/05
My husband and I recently took a trip to the Belle of the Bends. The historic home was well maintained and absolutely beautiful. Our stay was highlighted by many unexpected perks and a very spacious bedroom (and this was the lowest priced room). We were treated to the utmost care and were able to have our questions answered about the surrounding area. The best part of the entire experience is the fantastic breakfast that was served. We were unable to eat lunch after the enormous meal.

We had a wonderful time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/05
Our weekend stay at Belle of the Bends was excellent. The mansion was beautiful, just like in the pictures. The breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere so restful. The owners made us feel at home and we look forward to a return trip. I highly recommend a stay at the Belle of the Bends.
