don't make the mistake we did
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/10
This hotel may be on a recommended lodging list, but unless you have NO OTHER CHOICE, don't stay there. Staff not very friendly ( they don't go out of there way in anyway) The rooms are very, very basic. The beds are full size, as hard as rock, poor quality linens. You can hear "everything" from neighboring rooms and above. Water is very hard. I hate to give such a harsh review, but after our stay I spoke to friends that had stayed there and they had similar experiences, I wish someone had wrote a review to warn me!

would not recommend
By littleone, 10/20/08
My husband & I stayed here during our visit to Wallkill & Patterson. The Motel was very bare bones. Due to the tour buses that come and go from this location it is difficult to get a good nights rest as everyone is up early to depart on their tours bright and early. So alarms going off at 6am, showers running and doors slamming after a long flight from California the previous day was a bit much for us. We stayed two nights in a double bed as opposed to the queen stated in our reservation - we did not complain though. The bed was small and not the least bit comfortable. There were no extras - blankets, pillows, etc. On our departure my husband left behind several electronic charges, we were already well on our way to NYC before we remembered them. As I was looking for the phone number to call, our cell phone rang it was the front desk telling us we had forgotten them. I asked if we could have the items shipped to our home address. The "girl" we spoke ot assured us she would send them and charge the shipping costs to our credit card. I thanked her for her help. If I had known she would not do as promised we would have returned for the items we left behind. Upon returning home to CA we did not have any packages waiting nor had our credit card been charged for shipping. My husband called 3+ times and was told the items could not be found but they would look for them. Upon a final call he was told they were lost and nothing they could do for us. I emailed Howard Boyd the manager and asked for some clarification and stated my disappointment with the situatiuon and never recieved any acknowledgement let alone any customer service. If you are looking for the least bit of customer service stay elsewhere!

Great stay
By Jacqueline, 7/14/07
My family had a very pleasant stay here. We found the staff adequate but pretty much uninterested in us, which was fine by me. The room was quite comfortable and I found it very clean; cleaner, in fact, than most major hotel chains I've stayed at. No problems with mold or bedbugs. There were a few amenities in our room, but I can't remember if shampoo was one of them as I prefer my own brand and always bring it with me when traveling. I loved having an ironing board, iron, and hair-dryer available. I did see a few patrons smoking in their cars outside so if you're a smoker, it might be more convenient to stay elsewhere. Finally, another plug for the diner across the street! It was great! We really enjoyed eating there. Although not cheap (by Virginia standards) the prices were reasonable and the food was delicious.

Not that great...
By ChristyDavis, 4/16/07
The hotel was definately clean, however the rooms were only bare necessity, definately not any luxury or comfort. The beds were covered with a plastic protector which was so noisy that it would wake you up every time you moved in bed. There were absolutely no amenities, no shampoo, no conditioner etc which are really necessities for travelers. The walls were very thin. Definately stay upstairs - we had noise above us for most of the night. It was ok to rest for a night, but we would probably choose somewhere else to stay next time, somewhere that at least offered shampoo for the shower and a quiet, more comfortable bed!

Wonderful relaxing setting!
By CherylA, 4/9/06
I'm very picky with hotels and didn't know what to expect at the Harvest Inn but I have to say my stay was wonderful. When I walked in I saw a long staircase to my second floor room and panicked. But someone was quick to come and offer to take our heavy suitcases upstairs and back down when we left. There are plenty of ground level rooms too though if stairs are a problem. The staff were all very nice and the rooms well appointed and clean. There were even two sinks in each room our bus group had. One in the bathroom and one outside. There also irons and ironing boards, extra blankets and hairdryer in the rooms. A previous review mentioned bed bugs but in our bus group of 54 people, no one had problems. The place is totally smoke free and the rooms all smelled fresh. The carpeting all looked brand new. Nice furniture & comfy beds There was a baby-grand piano in the large lobby that people were welcome to play and lots of sheet music books from ragtime to showtunes to Kingdom Melodies. The lobby was a great place to meet people or enjoy music. Friendly atmosphere. There gift shop has plenty of nice items like Boyds Bears, jewellry, cards, crafts, leather bags/cases. I bought some pretty pins there cheaper than other places would charge for the same. The gift shop also carried many products from Madzay and similar companies. No restaurant but there is a vending machine & free coffee and orange juice all day. There is the "Cup and Saucer Diner" across the street and we were surprised how appealing it was inside. HUGE servings, great prices and very good staff & clean. Menu loaded with a big variety. Yum!! There's also a good pizza place nearby but not really in walking distance. I really want to stay here again!

The cleaniest place I've ever stayed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/06
This was the cleaniest hotel I have ever stayed. I read the review that this place previously had bed bugs - I didn't see a thing. I am not saying it wasn't true, but rather that perhaps they are now taking extra precautions as I noticed the matress is covered in plastic and not a regular matress cover. You could also tell that they were taking steps to upgrade (e.g. painting, carpet, etc). The hotel staff was extremely friendly. The Cup and Saucer Diner across the street was both clean, friendly, and had great food (loved their French Toast). I would defintely go back.

Unclean
By GrauerG, 10/16/05
This hotel had bed bugs in the suite, which we showed the manager. There was mold on the ceiling of the room and the lights didn't work. I would not recommend this hotel, although the hotel is rated #1 in Pine Bush, it is the only one. We would have enjoyed our stay more if we were somewhere else.

We''ll be back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/05
The Harvest Inn is the ideal location to enjoy the local sites and activities such as hiking and sightseeing. I love nature and being outdoors, so if you need a place to rest your head and check out the sites all day, stay here.:) I also love the convinence of having a motel near our headquarters printery, keeps me coming back. :)The envirnoment is very quaint and calm. You feel at home away from home. That is what I know and believe me, I'll be back! :)
