What happened to your hotel?
By MOM, 9/22/10
My cousin and I have been coming to your hotel every yr since you have been open on Thanksgiving weekend we were very impressed with it but as the yrs went by when I try to make a reservation im told sorry were booked but I can tell you about Splash Lagoon packages it is really dissapointing what your hotel has turned into it's amazing if you want to go to the water park rooms are available but just visiting your city and needing a room none are available it's a real shame we had to break a tradition we have done for yrs and go to a different hotel !

Won't be back again!
By Helen, 5/31/10
My husband and I for years had gone to this hotel every year and absolutely love it. The food the service was always great. for the last several years we have not been able to go until this last Memorial Day weekend. When we got there I will say that the General Manager and another women behind the desk were awesome but thats were it ended.First we were supposed to get a refrigerator in our room, never got it, then when we got to the room the bedspread was dusty and filthy. The breakfast food was o.k. if you don't want any protein or healthy food. All but a small basket of fruit was the only thing not very high carbohydrate food there. No oatmeal, no yogurt, no eggs or meats. But the really horrible part was we paid alot of money to relax and enjoy our stay only to be bombarded by a huge group of girls from a soccer team who were jumping off the walls into the pool, cannon balling into the hot tub nearly jumping on top of us. All over the pool area are signs that no one under 16 may use the hot tub. So after being kicked in the stomack a few more times we asked them to please not get in. They all started mouthing off to us. So I went to talk to someone who was at the front desk who told me that we shouldn't come to hotels on Holidays if we want to relax because its to busy, and that they an be in the hot tub if someone is there watching them, even though no one was, and that's not what any of the signs say, I told him that there are adults who have not been able to use the hot tub, who would like to get in but not with 20, ten year old girls. He started yelling at me and told me that they ha ve never enforced the rule and that the girls could stay. When I asked to speak to the manager, he wouldn't let me, when I asked for a refund he said no. Oh and if you need an extra pillow you better ask for it when you first get there because none of us got any when we asked that night because all the soccer girls had taking all of them. We will not be back.

Will not be going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/08
Stayed here last October and we thought it was a terrific place---clean and excellent value. This time it was still great value but our party had 2 rooms and each were not very clean. The jacuzzi tub had a dirt ring in it and the floor was not very clean in the corners. UGH!!! Our other room had so much lint and whatever it was behind the night table and it just generally not as clean as it was last time...Both rooms need the spreads cleaned also... The garbage cans in the breakfast room really need to wiped. They had sticky stuff running down them that was there both days we ate there... Generally speaking the hotel really needs to have a good cleaning...

Good Job Econo Lodge!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/08
This Econo Lodge hotel made our family very happy. The bathrooms were a decent size. Rooms were a bit crampt but it would most likely be for 6 people. Great free breakfast is huge. Nice staff. Huge pool, ok jacuzzi. Very nice TV. Jacuzzi is a bit hot so don't put young kids in it. Excellent exercise room. Right across the street from Splash Lagoon. Elevator work great. Everything well inline at the hotel. Comfortable beds also offer crins if u have really young ones. Very close to Lake erie about 20 mins. Had resturants around it. Will recommend this hotel. PS: Fast internet access. In all great hotel!

Great, except very firm beds
By DeAnna, 11/16/07
It was really a nice place to stay. The pool was nice, the hot tub was nice, the room was quiet. We had a tv, microwave, refridgerator, and coffee maker in the room. They served a great breakfast, eggs, waffles, cereal, french toast, lots more!! It was a great stay. My only complaint was the bed was a bit more firm than I like. We went for my husbands LECOM interview, and he got a great rest before a big interview.

Ripped off
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/07
This time that we went to the Splash Lagoon it was packed!!! They let a daycamp in and there wer no tubes to be had unless you wanted a deflated one. They also had no towels. My hege gripe though is that i was ripped off! I made my reservations over the phone and i was told that i could have a room at the Econolodge for Sunday and Monday for 129 dollars a night. When i checked out , they had me at 129 for the Sunday night and 276 dollars for the second night. When i asked about this they basically laughed at me that i was wrong that tis was my rate, and if i wanted to talk to someone i was to call the manager the next day. Which we did. But she was not there, as she wasnt there for the next three weeks and obviously does not know how to return a phonecall. I think that this is extremely rude and terrible business. I mean obviously they do not care if we return or not. Which we will not. I could go to one of the waterparks around here for the 276dollars. The reason that we liked going there was that it was reasonable, but this was a rip off!! and they don't care about your business. I would never recommend the Splash Lagoon to anyone i know! Oh yes one last thing...the room that we stayed in at the Econolodge that was supposed to be an upgrade smelled like urine and the pull out double couch was like sleeping on metal bars. The kids would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor!

TBA: Power Outage of February 3rd
By Bill, 2/11/07
I don't know much about it. It seemed nice and might look nice, but it was hard to tell in the dark. There was a widespread power outage in Erie that day, forcing us to check out at 6:00 PM, one hour after checking in. We had paid for the family reservation as part of the Splash Lagoon package deal. The manager took my name and address and assured me she'd do something Monday w/regard to refunds or credits. Monday comes, nothing. I called Tuesday and am directed to the voice mail of the Mgr, to which I leave a detailed message. The response? Nothing. I emailed and called the Splash Lagoon on Thursday, and was directed to the voicemail of the Secretary for Mr. Paul LaRue, who was said to be handling the matters w/regard to the outage. Nothing yet. Clearly the power outage is not the fault of the Econolodge or Splash Lagoon, but there should be a quick resolution to the matter--not in the form of something that has to be figured out, rather it should be a matter of their policies and those of Splash Lagoon. Anyone else with the same issue?

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/06
We loved it, the rooms especially the whirlpool tubs were excellent. We have been there 4 times in the past 6 yrs, & wish to return with brother & future sister-in-law on their honeymoon, but cannot get availabilty on Sept 1-4, please let us know if a room with whirlpool tub comes available! Last time we had the honeymoon sweet and just loved it cause it was close to pool. Thank you.
