Health Hazard
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/10
This place is a health hazard and should be shut down. The first room they gave me was disgusting and looked as if it had never been cleaned. It smelled musty and damp, and there was mold in the bathroom. In fact, the toilet was coming unscrewed from the floor! Shower was clogged. Bathroom floor dirty. I viewed about 14 disgusting brown stains on the ceilings, and the same if not more on the walls. Lamp shades dusty and very visably ripped apart. Bedspreads and linen did not smell fresh. Pillows were old and yellowed. It really looked like a flop house. Since I was late already for an engagement, there was nothing I could do to change my room as I didn't have 20 minutes to wait before someone came to the desk. I slept on top of the bedspread as I was fearful of sleeping under the sheets. I called at 8 in the morning when I awoke to ask for a new room, and despite the hotel being practically empty, I had to wait four hours until I was given another one.
The new room looked like a palace compared to the other one, but it, too had it's problems. No clock, no coffeemaker as promised, stains on the carpet and walls. The room was basically very bleak. Again, the second night (I had to stay as I had no where else to go and I could not cancel without a penalty). At least the air conditioner was running well and there were decent channels on the television, although the remote was broken and it took another half a day until they gave me another. Also, I couldn't believe the filth on the building and windows. It is on a main road, and kicks up a lot of dust. You could actually write your name in the dust on the windows.
Thank goodness when I travel and I know I am going to a hotel, I carry an extra blanket and two pillows, as well as Lysol and Febrezee. I've never had to use them in a hotel until then.
Also, when I woke up in the morning from the first room, I had difficulty breathing and had a full blown asthma attack. I had to use my epi-pen which made me very sleepy and instead of going to the Bethel Woods Museum as I had planned, I fell asleep after moving to the new room and woke up an hour before they closed.
A waste of a trip and money, not to mention the aggravation I went through. The staff is unfriendly and act like THEY are doing you a favour, and are not helpful at all. I did not see one of them smile the whole time I was there. When I asked for another shampoo, they told me they gave me one already. I told them I had used it, and they begrudgingly gave me another.
I was clever and took pictures of the rooms and their conditions. I am so angry. This is not going to stop here. A call to the board of health is in order.
Please do not stay here. Avoid this place at all costs. It is an unhealthy place to stay, and the little precious time off you have for a vacation will be completely ruined.
