nobody told us that it is a 45 min. trip from the train station to san marco. there are 2 san marco stops - we didn't know which one to take and ended up dragging the luggage over the bridge. the cost of the vaporetto is 6 euros 50 per person with one piece of luggage.
the personel was less then welcoming. room was clean and spacious. excursion to murano advertized in 4 languages as free happened to be free only one way.
breakfast was extremely basic, no fruit and no good italian cappuccino or espresso, only american coffee. there was only one kind of bread (stale).
this was not a nice experience. even so the location is great, there are plenty of other little hotels around piazza san marco.
With a reasonable rate for the neighborhood we wondered how this would be, but were pleasantly surprised at the clean, recently refurbished accommodations. Room was small but what else is new... sure can't beat the location, just a block off the plaza.
