Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Heidelberg

Great location right across from the river, 100ft from the Old bridge, only 10 min walking from Heidelberg castle, 3 blocks from main shopping. You will LOVE the location. You can open your windows and watch the people and the river traffic. Room Typical europe size, very clean, bedding crisp and fluffzy. Bathroom also europe size,very clean with all new modern fixtures and tile. This is an old building so the floors and stairs do creak, zou will hear your neighbors return to their rooms and you will hear the street traffic below you. Typical europe free breakfast. Front desk staff very helpful and will guide you and watch over you. Only 9 euro taxi ride from the train station, no need for a car everything walking distance. If you can appreciate history you will enjoy the thrill of this older hotel as you use your skeleton key to enter your room. If you dislike 'old' this not for you.

Stayed on June 10, 2006 and paid �115 for one night (single room): it took nearly 10 minutes to get warm water in the shower; manager's smug comment: "But you did get warm water in the end, didn't you?". Parking for �8 per night in a dark, dirty, unguarded parking garage located 600 meters from the hotel; the door to the garage was open during the day time, so you just hoped your car was safe. Finally, noisiest room in the hotel has to be room #1 located next to an old, creaky staircase: be prepared to be awakened by constantly trodding feet from 6am onwards; unapologetic comment from the manager regarding noise level: "It's an old hotel". Totally overpriced and short on a good night's sleep. Only good thing the hotel has going is location.

Stayed at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten on our honeymoon in September 2004. Can't beat the location on the Neckar river next to the Old Bridge. Within easy walking distance to the market and shops. Restaurants all around. The staff is excellent. The rooms are modern. Price is reasonable. Highly recommend!!!
