disgusting rooms and service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/18/11
My mom and little sisters were forced to stay there due to a house fire, prices, and space. I worked at the hotel the previous year and had to quit bc of the employs. The manager left me on day two to smoke crack with some of the tenants-I later found this out. When my mom informed me where she was staying I obviously tried to talk her out of it until she said they were under new management and renovating. After 2 weeks in the suite they were asked to move so newlyweds could have the room after there wedding in the lobby. So she willingly moved to two adjoining room. This was already wrong of them since she had paid in full for 3 weeks for that room. The same pedifile from when I was employed there was still over maintenance. And everyone at the front desk was SO rude to my family. They called her out when her dog ran loose even tho pits and other dogs were doing the same even using the bathroom in the lobby landscape. After moving to adjoining rooms my sister woke with a rash all over her body which turned out to be bed begs. And neighbors told her they had the same problem with bed bugs. The management refused to do anything about it claiming everyone in the room should have them which is NOT TRUE!!!!! Then had the nerve to ask if my mom was on drugs when she asked them to handle the bugs. FYI...my mom and family are the only ones NOT on drugs. There is a lot more too. Everytime I would visit the walkway and lobby smelt like weed. People would hang out all over the hotel getting drunk and high. Definitely not a family friendly environment.

May 2007 Worst place in America to stay
By karemlnuke, 8/11/09
In 1 week, changed rooms 3 times. AC broke. roaches. RUDE, no VERY RUDE staff. Trash flowing down the parking lot from dumpster. At night....it was scary like a horror slash movie. I have pics to document it all. Complained to owner/corporate with no reply. Makes Spartanburg look bad. Oh, and DONT take your kids there. Would never and have NEVER stayed again at any of their places.

What a difference new ownership makes!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/08
I stayed at the hotel in January 2008 and really did not like the hotel at all. The rooms were dingy, the staff not very helpful and it was very scary at night. When I returned to Spartanburg on business I was not going to stay because of my last experience. I am an avid swimmer and they have the best pool and since it was only for 2 days I decided to return. I am so glad that I did, the staff greeted me in a real friendly manner, the hotel actually was clean, my room was fresh, clean and inviting. I met the new owner and renovations will be starting in the new year. Reviving the hotel like it used to be! I can only surmise that in the short time the changes what it is going to be like when the renovations are completed. I definitely will be back!

we enjoy our stays there
By happicoupl, 11/9/07
we go there every month with a group. we have been going since june. at frist they weren't the greatest, but they have been working to fix the problems. the a/c is working much better now, the food is great and not to expensive. so they seem to be getting better each month. i believe by the first of the year all repairs should be done and things much much better. the workers have all been nice. they sometimes is slow about the cots but that seems to be getting better.

ROACHES
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/17/07
This was the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in. Roaches everywhere. Scary people in the parking area. I cut my trip short because I couln't bear to stay there another night. Clogged drain, yellow water out of tap, broken A/C. Need I say more?

Dismal, dark, dank. dirty & depressing.
By Coonie in SC, 5/19/07
This is truly the worst place I ever stayed. The location...very hard to find, as it is located on a frontage road that involves a sharp turn, and has bad signage. Value...not worth saving a few bucks if you get shot by the creepy folks that hang around in the parking lot, or get an infection from the hot tub or pool. Cleanliness...this is my biggest gripe, the place is filthy, the lobby is so dark that it takes a while to become visually acclimated, but once you do...it's really apparent that everything from the pool to the carpets are in serious need of cleaning. Service...the dining room took forever to get the "daily special" to the table, and then there was nothing special about it.

would go there again
By shersher46, 1/18/07
We were there around Thanksgiving. The resturaunt was pretty. The food was great, they had a homecooked meal, that was very reasonable. We went to the lounge every night we were there. The people that ran the lounge was very nice. We felt like we had knew them all our life, before we left. The rooms was clean. The hotel needs updating some, but we liked the ideal of seating at the lounge and watching our kids swim..

It really went downhill!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/06
I was with a group that stayed there in April and thought it was great. (We stayed in the main building.) I took a group there in June -- the reserved rooms were not available, the rooms we got (not in the main building) were filthy, the furniture was broken, the bed sheets hadn't been changed since the previous guests. We needed cots (we reserved rooms with two beds -- not available), the management would not allow us to get the cots ourselves, we had to wait until after eleven PM for the cots to be delivered. The main building is nice but the other buildings need to be avoided at all costs!
