Don't Bother with Room 310
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/11
I'd like to say good things about this place - I mean it is literally on the beach, so it has that going for it. They have a very friendly and nice girl to check you in at night. They use organic soaps and the shampoo/lotion/etc is a good size so you won't run out. That's about all the good stuff tho. My boyfriend and I stayed in room 310. It was $80 for the one night. There is peeling wallpaper, outlets without covers, no shower curtain, the toilet paper holder is half ripped off the wall, cobwebs in the closet make me afraid to reach for the iron and board and the most ancient TV ever (certainly not a flat screen like others are saying) balances on one of three dressers crowding the room. The desk looks like it came from a garage sale. Carpets are worn and mismatched, the toilet must be sucking down half of California's water allotment each time you flush it and the jacuzzi tub has cracked and yellowed jets and no way to stop up the drain anyway. Baseboard are also coming apart. I am so NOT impressed. Room 310 has only a full size bed and it appears to be pretty short since my 6 foot tall boyfriend's feet are hanging over the edge. Call me spoiled but give me a king size bed when I'm paying $80/night! The only heat source in the room is 2 space heaters from Walmart... one is a heat dish that makes an obnoxiously loud buzzing noise 10 minutes after you turn it on (we had to unplug it), and the other is a small tower heater that vibrates really loudly. It seems from reading the other reviews that your experience of this place depends which room you get, so I'm here to tell you, dont let them sell you Room 310!

LOVED THE INN AT THE BEACH IN VENTURA!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/10
I live in the desert, so vacationing in Ventura was just wonderful. The Inn is so quaint and has everything you need to get away and enjoy life. I stayed on the 3rd floor overlooking the ocean and it was great!! comfy bed w/crisp clean sheets - cute room. Continental breakfast provided and a small patio to sit and enjoy the better moments of life!! I can't wait to get back to the Inn - I loved it and the casual lifestyle - flipflops are the best!! and.....for those of you that can't walk the 3 flights of stairs, the Inn has an elevator!!

Have some PRIDE IN OWNERSHIP!!!
By Marilyn, 12/8/09
First I will say the location is great! right on the sand, nice views from 2&3 balconies. We stayed during the VC fair and the fireworks show was beautiful from the sand or balcony, but not great enough to make up for filthy carpets & bathrooms also our fireplace was "out of order" the faucet handle for the cold water fell off in our bathroom room not dusted hair all over wallpaper peeling off...I really feel bad for my family because we would love to stay there again but the state this hotel is in and they keep raising the room rates instead of putting some money back into the hotel. At least check your maids work vaccum bleach and scrub bathrooms srio off peeling wallpaper fix broken things add a few coats of paint, it really wouldn't cost that much PLEASE we really would be back, until then we'll be staying at Crown Plaza, hope to see you again someday!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/09
It's all ours! Hubby and I stayed for the first time (of many) for our 10th anniversary and it's now going to be our special place. Yeah, it's a bit dowdy, but our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. And it was ON the beach! The staff was welcoming and laid back. Love love love it! So stay away so we can always get a reservation!

Very bad service and quality
By E.J., 7/3/09
It was early enough that there were only 2 other tables seated and yet we were constantly ignored and not treated like the other guests. The waiter seemed to go out of his way to be rude and slow. The menu is lacking and the value for the cost isn't not fair either. More directly the orders were not correct and there was no attempt to correct any of the problem.....

Wouldn't Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/09
Only thing nice was the view and the bed. The room was not clean. Carpet not cleaned or room furniture not dusted. Old building. Nothing new about this place. Balcony was very small and lots of bird droppings as expected with birds landing on railings. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, OJ, muffins, pastry. Also, no microwave or coffeepot in room. Rate for one weekend night was $165.00. Sorry, won't go back not at that price!

Great time on the Beach!
By Btrom, 3/23/09
Fantastic location. Even though the day was kind of dreary we were treated to a nice sunset. The Room was very nice and the fireplace and jacuzzi were wonderful. Walking distance to many food choices. Staff was great. We we be back in the summertime!

Zero Star
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/7/08
Reserved by phone after seeing thier site on the net. After checking in we found no heater, bad beds, worn out furnishings, broken light fixtures, few amenitys, ect, ect. The last straw was trying to use tub and finding the jets did not work only to be told that they had been that way for sometime. We checked out after being assured my card woul not be charged, IT WAS! Now the owner will not return calls and the staff refuses to give me his number.

A sad little place...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/07
My husband had dreamed of staying in this inn since he was a high school kid ditching school, hitchhiking to Ventura to hang out on the beach! Oh, to stay right on the beach! Just walk out the door and there you are! So we made reservations (easy and pleasant), gathered up both sets of in-laws, various children and grandchildren, and met in Ventura for the long awaited beach trip. Posiives: The beach is wonderful! The Inn staff was pleasant, the free breakfast offerings were adequate (Great Grandpa and the kids loved all the CostCo style pastries!). And the location was great! The kids lived in the ocean the whole time we were there. The view from the top floor was fabulous. Negatives: The Inn is much too expensive for the shabby state it is presently in. From peeling wall paper, worn, soiled carpets, moldy shower tile and shower curtains, tubs I wouldn't let the children take tub baths in (showers only because of the mold), to bath fixtures in disrepair... We were very disappointed, and somewhat taken aback, at the poor condition of the rooms we were given. They were not at all like the rooms the public is invited to peek into. So, while we enjoyed our family and the beach, the rooms were a disappointment and overpriced for the condition of this little place. With some basic repairs and TLC, The Inn on The Beach could be the sort of place we would love to return to. But next trip to Ventura, we'll look for other accomodations.
