Have some PRIDE IN OWNERSHIP!!!
By Marilyn, 12/08/09
First I will say the location is great! right on the sand, nice views from 2&3 balconies. We stayed during the VC fair and the fireworks show was beautiful from the sand or balcony, but not great enough to make up for filthy carpets & bathrooms also our fireplace was "out of order" the faucet handle for the cold water fell off in our bathroom room not dusted hair all over wallpaper peeling off...I really feel bad for my family because we would love to stay there again but the state this hotel is in and they keep raising the room rates instead of putting some money back into the hotel. At least check your maids work vaccum bleach and scrub bathrooms srio off peeling wallpaper fix broken things add a few coats of paint, it really wouldn't cost that much PLEASE we really would be back, until then we'll be staying at Crown Plaza, hope to see you again someday!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/09
It's all ours! Hubby and I stayed for the first time (of many) for our 10th anniversary and it's now going to be our special place. Yeah, it's a bit dowdy, but our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. And it was ON the beach! The staff was welcoming and laid back. Love love love it! So stay away so we can always get a reservation!

Very bad service and quality
By E.J., 07/03/09
It was early enough that there were only 2 other tables seated and yet we were constantly ignored and not treated like the other guests. The waiter seemed to go out of his way to be rude and slow. The menu is lacking and the value for the cost isn't not fair either. More directly the orders were not correct and there was no attempt to correct any of the problem.....

Wouldn't Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/09
Only thing nice was the view and the bed. The room was not clean. Carpet not cleaned or room furniture not dusted. Old building. Nothing new about this place. Balcony was very small and lots of bird droppings as expected with birds landing on railings. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, OJ, muffins, pastry. Also, no microwave or coffeepot in room. Rate for one weekend night was $165.00. Sorry, won't go back not at that price!

Great time on the Beach!
By Btrom, 03/23/09
Fantastic location. Even though the day was kind of dreary we were treated to a nice sunset. The Room was very nice and the fireplace and jacuzzi were wonderful. Walking distance to many food choices. Staff was great. We we be back in the summertime!

Zero Star
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/08
Reserved by phone after seeing thier site on the net. After checking in we found no heater, bad beds, worn out furnishings, broken light fixtures, few amenitys, ect, ect. The last straw was trying to use tub and finding the jets did not work only to be told that they had been that way for sometime. We checked out after being assured my card woul not be charged, IT WAS! Now the owner will not return calls and the staff refuses to give me his number.

A sad little place...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/07
My husband had dreamed of staying in this inn since he was a high school kid ditching school, hitchhiking to Ventura to hang out on the beach! Oh, to stay right on the beach! Just walk out the door and there you are! So we made reservations (easy and pleasant), gathered up both sets of in-laws, various children and grandchildren, and met in Ventura for the long awaited beach trip. Posiives: The beach is wonderful! The Inn staff was pleasant, the free breakfast offerings were adequate (Great Grandpa and the kids loved all the CostCo style pastries!). And the location was great! The kids lived in the ocean the whole time we were there. The view from the top floor was fabulous. Negatives: The Inn is much too expensive for the shabby state it is presently in. From peeling wall paper, worn, soiled carpets, moldy shower tile and shower curtains, tubs I wouldn't let the children take tub baths in (showers only because of the mold), to bath fixtures in disrepair... We were very disappointed, and somewhat taken aback, at the poor condition of the rooms we were given. They were not at all like the rooms the public is invited to peek into. So, while we enjoyed our family and the beach, the rooms were a disappointment and overpriced for the condition of this little place. With some basic repairs and TLC, The Inn on The Beach could be the sort of place we would love to return to. But next trip to Ventura, we'll look for other accomodations.

Illegal rate hiking practices mid-stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/06
My husband & I booked 2 nights at this inn for the 3rd & 4th of July. We were told by the woman at the desk that a lower floor was available for the 3rd and an upper room was available for the 4th and that we'd have to change rooms mid-stay. This was fine with us (since it was all last minute). We were given the rates, I gave them a credit card, and we spent the night. The next morning a smug and increasingly rude man at the desk told us that the price for the upper room was now $100 more than we were told the previous night (when we made the reservation). We were told that the woman working the desk the night before hadn't worked there for very long (which I didn't believe having chatted with her for a bit while checking in) and hadn't given us the correct rate. I, of course, protested politely and pointed out that they should honor the rate they originally gave us when making the reservation. The rate that was on the receipt she had given me! That not to do so was illegal. The smug man said "I don't care" (!)and then just kept repeating the newly increased rate over and over. We left and the 4th of July was ruined because nothing else was available in Ventura at that point. Plus we were too upset at how horribly we'd been treated to bother trying to find another place. NEVER again. STAY AWAY from this property! This place was a dump (I had been hoping that the elusive "upper room" was nicer) and they have illegal rate hiking practices mid-stay!!
