Crane Ridge Resort, Ocho Rios

The setting, pool and staff (especially the bartenders at the pool bar) were very nice. However,we had a trickle of shower water, no hot water and a broken toilet. We finally got two new rooms in our party of three rooms after two days of complaining. Also, the area was totally dark at night. There were exterior lights but they were not on. I'm surprized someone has not fallen in the dark hilly terrain. Lastly, the continental breakfast-no coffee one day(it was instant), no fruit another, and no milk or fruit the last day. This place has lots of potential,but as is, I would not reccomend it to anyone.

Crane Ridge is a pretty great hotel. The food, Staff. The entire facility is great. I've seen some other reveiws about some things that i found out was definatle not true. I only found a slight problem. They need to have a little more on sight activities available to occupy both the day and nioght life. Thats really the least though. Huys, take it from me. It's worth the price. I enjoyed myself. And the kitchen crew. They are great. I definately will be going back next week.

Just got back from here. We read all the terrible reviews & the great ones and decided to risk it. I would say this places isn't terrible at all. I had prepared for the worst, but the sheets & towels were very clean. The room was fine, the pool was beautiful and everything was worth it. The wifi was down and the phone didn't work in our room, and no one cared to fix it. However, they let me call my parents in the States (internationally) for free from the reception desk and let us use the Ethernet cord in the reception room whenever we wanted. Therefore we still got internet & phone even though the staff doesn't think to fix anything. We're not picky so we didn't care that much. I guess we got lucky because the AC worked and sure the bathroom would fill up with water if you left the shower curtain open! duh, close the curtain! Otherwise, I heard from everyone terrible stories about their 4/5-star resorts in Jamaica on the excursions we went on... customer service and room cleanliness is terrible everywhere! So dont waste your money, if you're set on Jamaica just stay at the Crane Ridge. You won't really get much better and this way it will be a TON cheaper. They have a great deal with the JTL tours (I booked through Travelocity) so book the airport shuttle and they'll also offer you excursions packages with hotel pick-up. Also, it was great to be walking distance from all the shopping centers, restaurants and Margaritaville. Great New Years there!

This was by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed at, bare wires hanging out of the sockets, mould on the bathroom ceiling, toilet broken, air con not working. Breakfast consisted of a choice of bread, that was it & then charged $3 for a cup of coffee sumed this place up!!

Myself and my wife stayed there 2 weeks ago! It was absolutely fantastic! Great service, fantastic pool area, room was clean and very large. We could tell that they are working very hard to upgrade the facility! Our room was recently redone and the in room WIFI was superb! thanks for a fantastic stay and we look forward to staying again there soon!

ITS ONE OF THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER VISITED. THE STAFF WAS GREAT ALWAYS SMILING. THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD GREAT ISLAND VIBES. WILL BE HAPPY TO GO THERE MY NEXT TIME IN JAMAICA. IRIE NO PROBLEM

MY HUSBAND AND I BOOKED THIS HOTEL FOR ONE WEEK AND NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER BEEN TO A PLACE THAT IS SO DIRTY, THE SHEETS,BED, PILLOWS, KITCHEN, FURNITURES, IT WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE AT ALL. AND I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THERE. PLEASE DO NOT!! AND I MEAN DO NOT GO TO THAT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M WARNING YOU.

if you look at this as an extended stay hotel and not as a resort you will be happy. the rooms are huge but need cleaning and rennovations. one small pool which is very clean as well as the property. a tennis court that does not look like it is used or maintained. one restaraunt that has good food but very slow service. that is it. no amenities just a nice location. customer service is hit or miss, some staff are very friendly, some are slow and cannot be bothered. it is not a slum but only about 2 stars from a resort point of view. we did not have a horrible experience at this resort it was an average experience.

The Crane ridge suite, what can I say...We booked our "suite" in October as my brother was getting married new years Eve. we were looking forward to a 3 night stay(2007-2008). On arrival we found that; .The room was not reserved although booked well in advance . The staff uncooperative and noncholent .Once allocated a room we found it was in major need of paint and modernising .There was no telephone in the room, so one had to walk to reception for all ones needs including an iron which took half an hour to arrive. .On New Years Eve there was a water shortage when i say shortage i should say that the only place there was any water was in the swimming pool and this on the day of the wedding with 90 guest including the bride and groom needing a shower. Some members had to take a shower from a drum which the workers were using. .There are quite a few stray cats and the hotel does not feel clean. .We left a night early. On settling the bill we were given no discount for the discomfort felt and was actually asked to pay more for the room as it was not the one allocated to us...The cheek! However, it is in a brill location and within walking distance to the beach and local amminities. .If you fancy a workout it has got to be on one of the most steapest hills .The Ruins is next to the CraneRidge and the food served in there is fabulous

The only thing I disliked about this hotel was that it is on a STEEP hill. If you are even a little out of shape - beware! When I arrived to my room I found that the tv didn't work and there was no phone in the room. I went to the reservation desk and was promptly given another room. The staff was very friendly and willing to please. Close to restaurants and shopping. For the price, would definitely recommend this hotel.
