Great location!
By ,
We stayed on the "new" side of this hotel. It was very modern and nice, actually when I say new I mean REALLY new - felt like they were still doing a little work here and there. The hotel staff was very friendly and our room was more than adequate. Since it's only one street back from Grand Via on Saturday night it got a little loud (until 6am!) with people walking on the street, etc. It was worth it though! We were right near a metro stop (Santo Domingo) which made getting around very easy - definitely a good value!

It's okay
By ,
Pros: Central to most sites. Can walk to most locations. Hotel staff mostly nice and helpful. Cons: Rooms are VERY SMALL! Beds are VERY SMALL! Dont' even consider getting a room with two beds! Rooms with one bed are not too bad. Website is misleading in this regard. Also, very loud area with construction next door. Also, it's in somewhat of a red lite district (i.e. go-go bars, cabarets, etc. nearby). If I had to do it over, I would have spent the extra money and gone with a 5 star hotel.

Never Ever Again
By ,
I was so happy to visit Madrid, however from the moment i set my foot in the hotel i was treated with disrespect. Upon arrival, I wanted to check in however the hotel booked the wrong dates. I did not know that as i booked through Thomas Cook. Anyways, I gave them my name and they said they could not find my name in bookings for the day even tho I tried to explain and showed to them my booking references. They even didnt care to check in the system whether there was a mistake and dismissed me. It took me more than an hour to sort the issue after calling Thomas Cook, The funny part was that the receptionist didnot wanted to talk to the representative over the phone and was pretending that he did not speak good English. I suspect he got that they did a mistake. Also I dont beleive that this is a 4 star hotel, if you say three than I will agree and I do travel a lot. The only good thing about the hotel is the location. The troubles did not finish with the arrival. I paid for bed and breakfast but at check-out they required from me to pay the breakfast. I paid them and called Thomas Cook and they sent them the reference number again. However, the hotel did not to return the money until I dont know what reason they invented. I spend another 1.30 hrs at the reception and was on the verge to miss my flight. Thankfully, they returned the money after several hours. apart from that I found half of the stuff very rude. Conclusion: Bad welcome, bad goodbye and total waste of time, money and nerves. Worst experience ever that manage to spoil the nice taste of Madrid. Don't do that mistake!

Overrated
By ,
It was advertised as 4 star hotel. The lobby was the only place justified that rating. The room was tiny tiny, and interior and carpets were kind of run down. TV is old and flickering. Location wise, it is right next to Santo Domingo metro but not noisy at all. Convenient to Gra Via shops. For $88 a night, it is acceptable deal. I will take one star away from the rating though.

Convenient location
By ,
The service was good except we got there too early and our room was not available yet. Besides this inconvenience we had a wonderfule time. Rooms were clean, the food was good and the staff very nice. The location was great and with in walking distance of many interesting places. The only transportation we took was the metro adn that was because I wanted to ride on the metro. This is a great location.

We were impressed!
By ,
Hotel Santo Domingo was a pleasant surprise for our family. I just booked the room over the internet hoping I chose a clean hotel in a good location and I did! We could walk to many great spots, we felt safe, the hotel was clean and very reasonable. They helped arrange a taxi for us, spoke English, and were very friendly. In addition, it was one of the few hotels where we could sleep 3 people in one room. We would definitely go back.
