Enjoyed our stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/11
My family and I really enjoyed our stay @ the Harbor House. The beds are very comfortable and the room (2 queen beds) was the perfect size for my husband and 2 kids. The WIFI never worked and after 3 calls I got the impression they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes. There is a small fridge and microwave in the room which was nice! If you think about it, I'd call ahead of time and ask them to turn it on for you. People seem to complain a lot about having to pay for parking and the breakfast. FIRST, if you don't want to pay for parking - stay @ La Quinta. AND be happy it's only 10.00. We stayed in Houston and paid 28 per night Plus tips. SECOND, the breakfast is FREE so... We were thankful to step out of our room, grab coffee and a couple of bagels and oatmeal and then get ready for our day. Lastly - yes the staff were not very nice... not rude, but not nice. It did not ruin our stay in anyway, but it would have been nice if they faked it a little!

No Complaints.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/10
I spent one night here and enjoyed it. I enjoyed my harbor view and being right across the street from the strand. I will definately put this place on my list of hotels to stay when I return to Galveston.

Disappointed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/10
Three adult couples chose the "hotel" for a long weekend summer get-a-way. Three separate rooms shared similar problems. Poor housekeeping as previous occupant's food under the bed, had to ask for washcloths and soap, mildew on shower curtain, and worn wood toilet seats ready for bacteria occupation. One couple arrived at 10:30 p.m. and discovered a.c. unit not operating correctly. Attendant on duty's response was "well it is hot in Texas". Fortunately being of a pursuasive character I went to the attendant and he did call a maintence worker who did replace the a.c. unit at 11 p.m. The worker readily admitted the unit was not operating correctly. Front desk clerk not friendly and was poorly trained and not well informed. We asked how to park at the Hotel Galvez to utilize the pool. We were instructed to swipe our parking card. Guess what! A code is needed to enter the parking garage at the Galvez. We had to park on the seawall and walked across the street to the pool at the Galvez. If we did not ask housekeeping to clean room in a.m. it didn't get cleaned till after 4 p.m. You can hear conversations through the walls when you have loud neighbors. Continental breakfast very limited, had to chase down worker to replenish cereal and coffee. Bed was comfortable, location was great for the Strand, and good restaurants close by. Bathroom vanities need to be updated since display well worn laminate. No "pampering" as advertized.

Little Disappointed
By Lisa, 7/6/10
Disappointed for the price. We stayed during the 4th of July weekend. The continental breakfast was SAD!!! We went for breakfast at 9:00. All we found was coffee, juice, bagels and cinnamon bread. You can hear what's going on in the room next to you.....the television and conversations. It made it difficult to sleep. We did enjoy the restaurants next to the hotel.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/10
This hotel was a poor choice. It is little more than a decent Best Western. The room is plain vanilla. The hotel is on the second floor above a club and you get to listen to loud music until 10:30 pm. We were told after we register that we had to pay $10 per day to park in their lot. Never again.

Lovers' Lane
By Coach, 9/24/06
My newlywed bride and I stayed at the harbor House in Galveston prior to going on our Honeymoon Cruise to the Western Carribean. We arrived to our Deluxe Suite on 17 September and met the day manager who had excellent Customer Service skills. He personally took the time to explain to us everything about the hotel/inn, the nearby restaurants, the safety/ security of leaving our car in the parking lot, which was an awesome deal. Our suite was on the corner of the second floor overlooking the pier, and, more impressively the beautiful cruise ship that we would spend the next 5 days of our lives on. What an awesome location! The nautical feel, the fridge, the microwave, the big comfy bed, the huge windows, the double curtains, the cleanliness and the cable TV didn't hurt the place either. I did my homework on the place, and, for whatever reason, pictures really don't do it any justice. I am still going to submit a few. This place is the best deal in Galveston area, especially if you are cruising, dolphin watching, or, going on an early morning fishing trip. We are definitely returning to the Harbor House before the year ends, my wife of one week (at the time of the stay, 1 day) absolutely loved it. Quiet, quaint, and, really unique. Thanks, Mr and Mrs Cedric Hagger (of Houston, Tx)
