Very Wasteful. Disappointed.
By ,
Upon visiting the TEN Spa, I was dismayed to find out that the hundreds of water bottles given out complimentary are NOT recycled but rather thrown out. I know this from overhearing staff members discussing this, as well as some issue they were having with the management . The front desk was cold and left much to be admired. Staff seemed generally unhappy which tells me alot on how things are run ( I myself run a business) I have been fortunate to visit spa's around the globe and my experience was by no means world class.

Changing My Venue
By ,
What a gem! I travel often and have stayed at most of the old 'rail road' hotels across Canada and found the Hotel Fort Garry to be full of the charm and elegance I anticipated. The staff were professional and well informed about the hotel and amenities, the rooms (I've stayed in 5 different rooms to date) have all been different but equally charming, elegant and comfortable. Some were a bit more 'worn' but it's hard not to like the lady's character. And what about that wonderful 'FREE' coffee service delivered to your door in the morning. Delightful! And those beds - the beds swallow you up in rich luxurious sweetness - if there were ghosts, I slept through them! Breakfast is complimentary and an experience not to be missed. YUM! The chefs know how to make one mean omlet, the fruit is fresh, the choices plentiful and the wait staf'f very pleasant and accommodating. The Hotel Fort Garry is my new 'best place' in Winnipeg. Thanks to the folks who have rescued the Hotel Fort Garry from decay and are lovingly restoring her to her rightful glory! A Fan!

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE!!
By ,
I loved the Ft. Garry Hotel. The staff were excellent, the food good but the best thing were the feather beds...couldn't wait to get in bed at night...so comfy and we slept fantastic!! It has been renovated but still has kept its class. Very romantic hotel, close to train station, restaurants etc. Wish we had a reason to visit Winnipeg again....just to go to the Ft. Garry Hotel!!

Terrible Food Service
By ,
My friend had booked the brunch over a month ago with reservations for 11:30, didn't get seated until 11:45 and to be upstairs! When making the reservation my friend stated that we needed to be seated down stairs as I had knee surgury and could not do the steps, they said there is an elvator!! Yes there is an elevator but it took me less time to hobble up the stairs as opposed to waiting for the elevator!!! and then the service was terrible!! We had to ask for juice, for coffee and we had to remove our own plates! And this for $30 a person?? You should be ashamed of your selves. And the assistant manager at the desk was nothing but a big snot!!Over our reservations she took a walk in of 8 people! So why make reservations?

Wonderful Hotel!
By ,
This is my favorite hotel in Winnipeg! The public areas have an elegant ambience and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to downtown so it is easy to do shopping or sight seeing. The breakfasts are delicious (especially the Sunday Buffet). Overall, I feel the price is very reasonable for the quality of the service, the location, and the ambience. I will always choose the Fort Garry!

Total disappointment
By ,
My husband and I travelled to Winnipeg all the time staying at our relatives place. One time my husband decided to have a romantic getaway and booked at the Fort Garry Hotel. Online the Lobby lokes so amazing and considered as a luxury Hotel. When we got their I was wondering why the place looked empty and quite. We took there miniture elavator and up we went to out room.Oh Boy!!!What a shocked to see our room looks like a run down Motel. The bed looks comfy but the paint in the ceiling are peeling off.The curtains has holes and the bathroom is so small only a skiny person can fit. The furniture are so old it's like staying at my grandmothers home care, not to mention the smell. I went downstairs to complaine and they showed us two more rooms in defferent floors and they all look the same or worst than ours. The front person told us that if we want to stay at the renovated room they would charge us $300 a night. We decided to leave and take our money somewhere else at the CanadaInn at Regent Casino Hotel which did not disappoint us. I think that Fort Garry Hotel does not diserved to be considered a Luxury Hotel. They fool people by not showing there actuall rooms at thier web site. I will never set foot in this Hotel again. What a shity - shity Motel this is. Your better off staying at Comfort Inn for less money.

best hotel ever
By ,
My wife and I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, and the Fort Garry is by far the loveliest. In no other hotel have we been treated to feather beds, down duvets, oodles of feather pillows, all in snowy white linen. The towels are unbelievable. Breakfast in the morning in the dining room makes one feel like royalty. We especially enjoy the piano lounge in the evening. There is something about staying at the Fort Garry that makes you feel special. The hotel is old, but that is the basis of its character and charm. We consider no other hotel when we stay in Winnipeg.

Not a relaxing experience
By ,
With all the hype over the Ten Spa at the Hotel Fort Garry my girlfriend and I decided to check in to a spa getaway package at the hotel.Upon our arrival the front desk was the first impression of this hotel(neither of us stayed there before). The desk staff seemed unorganized and had no idea what was included in this package, without me telling them. We were not offered the pool, so we had to mention that.I've never stayed in a hotel that doesn't let you know what is included with your stay. We went to the Ten spa which was not relaxing, the steam room that you can use before your treatments was broken, which happens frequently and the ceiling in the steamroom appears to be falling down in one corner. This sends a message to me that they can't be bothered. The so called relaxation room where you are to find refreshments like herbal tea( if you could locate the tea pot or a mug) and wine.( which is not complimentry, unbeknown to us, until check out.I guess it's like the bottle water in the hotel room you open it and it's charged to the room, again unbeknown to us.) I found the hotel to be uninformative and I feel we were nickeled and dimed. And as far as the spa getaway we won't be back. We have far better Spas in this city to go to. Where your expectations are met prior to your treatments. And all the information is laid out for you, so there is no communication gaps, Those are the ones who want your business back.

Maybe...
By ,
I never actually lived here for a period of time, but, I came here quite often to sleep over at my cousins. I might have been happier, if the occasions were better. We came to visit her before she had to move back to Saudi Arabia, so therefore, we were all pretty upset. But more on the hotel, It was fairly clean, but had odd smells. The eleventh floor always seemed to smell of rotting fish or some badly cooked thing. It could have been because one of the neighbors wasn't very good at cooking, but otherwise...This hotel was suspected to be haunted. The resources it had were great, it had an exercise room with a track and a swimming pool, sauna and cozy rooms. The rooms were a little bit to small, but livable. It was nicely decorated, and had a store built into the hotel. I would probably go there again. As for the hauntings, I believe them. At night time there would be banging, you couldn't tell if it was to door or the hall way. The lights flickered on the eleventh floor hallway the time I went, and the hotel always seems eerily quiet. I would probably go back.
