Adventure Inn Motel, Gurnee

This was a great escape. All the low ratings are from before the old management. I have been coming here for two years and a year ago a new owner bought it and completely revamped the place. It was a great stay and I'll be coming back over and over.

The service is amongst the worst I have ever experienced (apart from one girl who was very pleasant and helpful). The room was old with faulty electrics (I was given an electric shock trying to plug in my lap top). The heater was old and missing all the dials so I could not get it to work. Getting breakfast is a task in it self I had to wait half an hour to make it myself. The bed side lamp was broken and took an hour to replace. Whatever you do dont ask for a taxi. You will be asked "how much are you willing to spend?" as the also own a cab company that will charge you as much as possible and still want more. I had low expectations as the price is so low, but they even managed to shock me with that.

I dont know what anyone saw in this place, upon my arrival, they gave me a key to go to the room, when my husband and I opened the door, the smell hit us in the face, the bed was not made, their were dirty socks on the floor! we went back to the front desk, they gave us another room, wasnt all that great but at least they had the bed made, We had noisy guests both nights we were there, slamming doors, talking loud, etc. the second day we were there we put a drink in the refrigerator, it was gone when we came back. We did not have a Do Not Disturb sign in our room, couldnt find a maid anywhere around, so we asked the front desk not to allow anyone in the room to clean we wanted it left just the way it was, to no avail when we came back they came in anyway and disrupted everything, after the front desk swore to us not to worry, it would be taken care of! The TV made loud screeching sounds when watching 3 different channels, the sink and toilet made noises, This place was unbelievable, Never Again!!!!

Look folks, you're not going to get a 4-star hotel for a 1-star price. This hotel is very basic. Our room was clean but had a definite odor to it. The shower was clean, the toilet was iffy. The cable left a little to be desired, but I did get a wireless connection in my room (#114) for my laptop. The rooms have a fridge and microwave. I'm not sure what the reviews are talking about when they mention a pool. This location doesn't have a pool. We went there with the intention of visiting Six Flags the next day and this location had the best package deal. With that purpose in mind, it was perfect. And it's only a couple of miles from the Gurnee Mills shopping center. Overall, I got about what I expected, even a little better and with all things being equal I'd do it again.

This was a huge disappointments for my boyfriend and I. We should have known better than to stay there when we pulled up and there was a lobby full of people complaining about the manager stealing their money! And when there was one other couple staying in the hotel on a friday night. We were originally going to stay in a regular room but once we saw all of the need photos on the wall of the rooms we thought that would be alot of fun. Well $225 later we get to a room, called a "touch of class" and we felt like we walked into a pile of TRASH! The only nice thing in the room was the hot tub with broken jets. There was painted plywood on the windows, electrical tape covering up wholes in the chairs, the free cable with hbo- not at ALL! There was 9 channels and if you tried to turn the tv up it would go out. The hallway was gross and smelly. They gave us a key to the pool. Once we walked all the way down there, they had a sign saying pool closed. There was a 1988 stereo nailed to the wall, with speakers sitting on a couple pieces of wood tacked up on the wall as well. They under charged us then over charged us. Im not even sure exactly how much we ended up paying.I was afraid to go to sleep, not that I could on the board they called a bed. Im afraid we are going to show up in the internet sometime because it felt like they have hidden cameras! Needless to say I was very disappointed. I would never recommend anyone stay there.

Love the location, you can bring the whole family and the older children have the opportunity to do activities by themselves without having their parents at their side all the time, then everyone can enjoy a day together. It is also great that you can park your car when you arrive and not get back into it until its time to go home,if you so choose.

I stay at this Hotel regularly and find it a great value. Business brings me here and the high speed internet is free and the staff is always willing to help. For the money it is a great clean comfortable place to stay.

Service is wonderful, very private and romantic. Food is great too. We were upgraded to an empty bigger room at no charge. Best to visit in the summer.

Wonderful weather in a great location. Stayed at room 110. It was huge and a great value. The 4 poster beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was excellant as was the service.

Very friendly & attentive staff. Room and accommodation's both in quality and selection. Room was comfortable & clean. I had stayed there years ago...It was OK then, but things have really improved.
