careful with your credit card here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/11
I had made a reservation earlier in the year and the lodge requires full payment up front. That's OK, I can deal with that, but several months later, they still make charges to your card without asking permission.

VERY Disappointed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/11
Spent President's Day weekend at TL&SAB and was very disappointed. The first room we were in was very dirty and we could hear an alarm cycle on and off all night in the mechanical room that was next to us. We requested a new room and were downgraded to a standard room. The new room was just as dirty and very very warm. Even after keeping the windows open for an hour before going to bed, the room was 80 degrees in the middle of the night and the heater was never on. The walls and ceiling in both rooms were like paper and the noise from the other rooms (which was not excessive) was very noticeable. We weren't expecting the Four Seasons, but this place was horrible!

Nightmare at the Lodge
We booked a Friday and Saturday night in October. The King Suite room was directly above a deck and the room where they host wedding receptions. On Saturday night, they had a wedding on the deck. We had to have our windows open because it was still 70 degrees outside and there was no air conditioning inside. When we returned from dinner about 7 p.m., the wedding reception was in full swing. The DJ kept getting louder and louder on his microphone; I closed the windows, but it got really hot in the room. The music was so loud we could not watch TV. I called down to the desk at 9:10 p.m. and asked why I was paying $170.00 a night to listen to this extremely loud booming sound beneath us. The young man at the desk said he would go ask the DJ to turn the music down, but he said, "What do you expect? It's a wedding." Five minutes later, several women guests from the wedding came out on the deck and started screaming. My husband and I went down to the lobby. Other guests were sitting in the lobby. They said they couldn't even watch a movie or relax in their rooms. At 9:50 p.m. 2 men from the wedding carted in two more cases of beer. The young man at the desk said there was nothing he could do about the noise, and gestured to the other guests and said, "You're all in the same boat." I didn't know staying at a hotel meant I was "in a boat" with other stranded guests. My husband and I checked out immediately and found a hotel that respects ALL of its guests. THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE TO BRECKENRIDGE!

for the price you cant beat it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/10
kind of surprised after reading others reviews. First of all the place is a lodge not a hotel, has a rustic feel (fair to say older). Paid $79 per night (mt king i think). I have checked the prices and found that in the peak winter season its kind of expensive( like most hotels i checked out online). But it seems like they drop the prices alot in the "off season". worth checking out if you are not the "high maintence type"

Not worth the money.
By LC, 3/30/09
I read reviews about this place that reflected a fifty-fifty opinion. Some people liked it and others did not. We decided to give it a chance. When you first get there you are impressed because it has that nice log lodge ski feeling to it. It has a nice lobby with a gas fireplace , etc. The room we stayed at had a nice view with a gas fireplace and at first, it can be very impressive. I totally agree with reviews about the dinginess. It looks like a place that was once really nice and was let go. The furniture in our room was falling apart. Old is a good way to describe it. The shower was filled with scum that could have been eliminated with some deep cleaning and calking in many of the cracks. The shower curtain was scummy and should have been replaced. The tub looked old and was filled with cracks. The bedspread was stained with a yellow dingy color and when we reported it, housekeeping took it off the bed and washed it and made the bed over with the same bedspread. Then after a nice day of skiing, we wanted to soak in the hot tub. There were two of them outside on a deck and one of them was luke warm. The other one was hot ,but it stunk to high heaven. It smelled like a sweaty sock, and we immediately got out. We couldn't believe it. It was like a cesspool and we were grossed out. We reported it and they said they didn't want to disturb the other guest who were using it, so they weren't going to close it down till the next day. We think the health department should check it out. The price they ask for their rooms is outrageous! We have stayed many time in Breckenridge and paid the same amount for a much nicer, cleaner place. They also change their prices online on a whim. We noticed the price shoot up over the weekend from $150.00 /night for their standard room to $450.00 /night . We think it had something to do with the fact that Breckenridge got a good deal of snow. Overall, my feeling was like they didn't care about their guests. They just want to take your money and you have to put up with the room as it is or end up complaining the whole time during your vacation. They don't seem open to suggestions or complaints either. There is no management who can help you on the spot because it was the weekend and they are not there. The people who are working at the front desk give you a "we don't want to hear your crap" kind of attitude. We would be willing to overlook a lot of these bad attributes if the price was more like $60 or $70 per night because that is what we felt it was worth. So for the money I would say no way, we won't be back. As far as the lobby attendants, some were really nice and others were rude.

NEVER AGAIN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/08
Overall, the property condition was “extremely tired” and the website description and photographs do not reflect the current state of repair. Moreover, there was no reference at any time to the planned closure and refurbishment, due April 2008, which would have highlighted the issue to guests. Housekeeping was not up to standard and was actually non-existent on the last 2 days. Having returned from skiing the room was stripped of linen and towels and all pillows and bedding was strewn across the floor. We requested the room to be made up. Despite apologies and assurances, 3 hours later the situation had not changed. I again made the request and reminded the front desk of the situation when I left for dinner. I was informed the Head of Housekeeping was off sick and was told “The maids did not care as the Lodge was closing” and “They had most likely taken off”. On returning from dinner at around 11pm, the room still had not been serviced. It had not been cleaned, bed made up, towels or linen provided. All of which I had been assured would be done whilst I was at dinner. I had to ask for linen and towels and then make the room up personally. The experience was far from pleasant and tainted our vacation. The overall the rack-rate was vastly over-inflated for the low standard provided. I had been charged the full cost in advance of arrival and the front desk was unable to offer resolution on departure. On a positive note, the standard of dining and service in the bar were very enjoyable. The view was outstanding, albeit through the cracked and broken window in Mountain View Suite, Room 107. No reply to my correspondence following the stay! In-keeping with the dreadful service provided!

You've gotta be kidding me . . .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/07
We booked massages at the spa. Waiting room was dingy -- old couches with slipcovers. Thought I was in a college dorm room. Massage itself was great, but locker room was dirty (we were there first thing in the morning and there were used Kleenexes laying around and the room needed vacuuming). The promised steamroom was out of order. We had to ask the 'dude' at the desk for towels for our shower, which never warmed up -- no hot water. Pathetic and expensive. Would never recommend it. Would never return.

Won't be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/07
The only thing this hotel had going for it was the view. It was awesome. The lobby was also nice with the fireplace going all the time even if it was gas logs. When we arrived, we were immediately disappointed with our room. We had requested a mountain view with two bed because our daughter was with us. We were placed in a handicapped room that needed a renovation badly. The bathroom was dirty and there were holes in the comforter on the bed. Not the resort their website led us to believe it was. The temperature rose into the 60s during the day and as a result of the room facing the sun, it was incredibly hot. No air conditioning in the entire hotel. The fireplace continued to burn however. We will not be back. There are much better places to stay in Breckenridge!

Awesome Spa Day!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/07
I had a massage and facial at the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge, which I absolutely loved! The massage was so relaxing, and the facial was so much fun and left my skin feeling great! Both my massage therapist and facialist were soooooo friendly and personable, as well as the rest of the staff. The entire spa is very comfortable. It was even an easy drive there. It's a great get-away! P.S. The view from the lodge is INCREDIBLE! The mountains are absolutely beautiful.

This place was superb!
By hibe, 12/5/06
I can only say great things about 'The Lodge'. Rates were cheaper than pretty much anywhere, but class was above all the others. It felt and looked wonderful the rooms were beautiful, and the view was stunning (pay an extra $10 or so dollars for a mountain view) The staff were helpfull and friendly (around the board...) The housekeeping staff were so quiet and reserved but they do such a remarkable and humbling job. I am sure most modest budget travellers as myself will agree fully with me, about their experiences here, but some higher end guests are the ones that complain/ed about petty things. As a matter of fact I stood behind them and could not believe their bickering! Go somewhere else ungrateful people, nothing on earth can satisfy you! But anybody who wants to experience views you could only dream of and an all round wonderful atmosphere, you will love it here. Oh, I did not even mention the skiing, or dining or sitting outdoors in a hot tub while snow is pelting your head (you need to try that!) They offer a free ride anywhere into Breckenridge whenever you want, so keep your car in the lot for most of the stay. The restaurant was a bit expensive but for night of eating out it was really good, the rest of the time you can try one of the many restaurants in town. The people in town are usually friendly too, and you will meet so many nice folk at the Lodge and then bump into them somewhere around town or on the slopes. I booked on Travelocity and averaged at about $80 a night . I did not want to leave, trust me!
