Description

Located on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya, this is a beautiful, comfortable and spacious resort. A low-rise, it is built across three wings and offers a real escape from the chaos of the city. Beautiful teak furniture and relaxing cool colors add to the tranquil feel. There is no doubt that this is one of the most beautifully landscaped hotel in Bangkok. The pool area with its swim-up bar is just fabulous and you could spend an entire day in the warm soothing hot tub. The hotel also has a number of great eateries including Benihanas and Trader Vic's .

I loved the hotel
By ,
The hotel location is excellent and although it is far from the heart of the city, but the hotel free shuttle boat takes you to the metro station that takes you to all marvelous places in Bangkok. The service at the hotel is super good and the resturants are excellent, not to forget the band that do the traditional Thai dance every nigt. I can't wait to go back to this nice hotel

Outstanding service
By ,
I travel frequently for work, and can safely attest that this is one of the best managed hotels in the world. I have become accustomed to overrated and overpriced hotels, but the Bangkok Marriott is neither. The service and attention to detail are amazing.

Wonderful place to stay at
By ,
We were hesitant at first but once we settled in it is indeed a great place to hang out. The buffet is a killer! The ambiance is ulala.Everyone was pleasant. Add the upgrade lounge and you will get all your money's worth! I will definitely come back and stay here again. I just wish it is closer to the shopping area.

A great resort
By ,
Positives: 1. Excellent service 2. Wide restaurant selection 3. Convenient shopping 4. Great Spa Negatives: 1. Inconvenient to get into central city especially since the every 1/2 hr. river boat stopped going into town and now goes only to Sky Train station. Overall, a great place to stay. We have stayed there at least 8 times.

Marriott SPA 2008
By ,
Marriott SPA Bangkok a beautiful hotel at the banks of the river with free boat shuttle to Silom. The breakfast is below this class - just poor quality buffet offer at the price of a 5 star. The air-con will chill you up. The air-con fits hot blooded Americans only. River view in our case was a glance at the river bending out of the balcony. Otherwise a enjoyable place in Marriott style.Europeans and Asian will prefer another place due to food and service offerings.

Nice.... and remote
By ,
It's a nice property with a great spa. It's just a bit far from main activities and sights of the city. Last stay there I had to give the taxi driver directions as it's that far from the normal hotels. If you are there for a romantic stay... nice choice. If you plan to be out and about all the time, best stay some place closer to the sky train.

Beautiful Stay !
By ,
This hotel is enormous situated in low rise Thai style building on the west bank of Chao Phaya River on 10 acres with beautiful tropical gardens. We booked this hotel on their website and got a good rate, they e-mailed us back saying they would pick us up at the airport. As soon as we hopped into the air-conditioning car we were handed fresh bottled water and a cool towel. We also used this service on departing. Check in was fast and efficient and we were offered a junior suite for a little extra which we took. Our suite 570 was very spacious with a separate study, internet broadband connection, working desk and two chairs, tea and coffee facilities were also provided. The bedroom was large with wooden floors, a fantastic comfortable king size bed , bedside tables, lamps, mini bar, large TV cabinet with DVD player, dressing table and small coffee table with chair and ottoman. Large sliding glass doors lead out to an enormous side balcony with table and chairs magnificent views of the river. The bathroom was normal size with shower over the bath, two bathrobes and slippers were supplied. There are so many restaurants in this hotel; one does not really need to venture downtown. There is Beihana restaurant which has Japanese teppanyaki, the Manohra if you want to dine and take a river cruise. An excellent Chinese restaurant, the Traders Vic Restaurant, which serves international cuisine and has live entertainment. The Riverside Terrace which has traditional Thai dancing for entertainment plus a brilliant buffet dinner. There are also countless bars for having a cocktail or drinks. The swimming pool is average size but has jet spas with a sit in water bar. The only thing which would make it better would be the temperature; the water was far too warm for serious swimming. There are plenty of deck chairs, umbrellas, tables and chairs available. The best thing in this hotel is the spa resort which is housed in a separate Thai building. There are so many treatments you can choose from, or you can just indulge yourself in one of the many herbal baths available. All the private massage room are wonderful with separate dressing rooms attached. This is a must do, if staying here. The staffs are amazing, so polite, respectful and gracious. Sometimes, a little over attentive. The Marriott is not close to downtown, so you need to use the hotels ferry which goes every 15minutes and connects to the sky train. We did not find this a problem, except because of business, my hubby stated Bangkok business associates would prefer us to stay in downtown next time. (Too far for them to drive through the traffic). For good shopping catch the train into Siam and visit the MGK store for some good bargains. Chilled fresh towels and bottled water was supplied on the ferry home. (Wonderful gesture). Pros: A lovely relaxing resort with fantastic facilities. Staffs are marvellous and delightful. Excellent River views rooms available. Beautiful comfortable rooms with a lovely dreamy bed. I loved this hotel as after travelling the world I needed to relax and chill out. If you want to just do some serious RR then this hotel is perfect. Cons: A long way from the city, if you wanted to experience Bangkok nightlife or do business. The river stinks at low tide and if you happen to be near the swimming pool, the smell can literally make you sick. (Not hotels fault) The spa treatments are expensive. Tip: Book your spa treatments on arrival as it always booked out, especially if you want early appointments. There is an ATM machine in the small shopping plaza connected to the entrance of the hotel. There is also KFC and McDonalds if the kids want their favourite meals.

Going Downhill
By ,
I stayed at the Marriott last year and had a nice experience. Nice encough that I decided to return this year. But this year I was disappointed by the service, cleanliness and crowds. The check-in desk made us wait twenty minutes before they could find a suitable room and neglected to give us the much anticipated welcome drink and cool towel, even though they gave it to other guests checking in. The pool area and common areas were dirty and cramped with package tourist. I have stayed at many hotels in Bangkok and this one is no longer worth the price. I recommend the new Millenium Hilton on the river for the same price.
