Will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/08
We had 2rooms the night of July 24 at the Ramada Inn on Banff Trail. The one room wasn't as dirtty as the other one but nothing to brag about,We had to use a shoulder to get tthe door open, it was sprung so bad. When we did get it open there was a table with stove burners on it that were filthy, the foil was burnt & burnt food on it. The corners in the bathroom had dirt on them & there was a dirty facecloth in one corner of the tub.The sink & counter were sticky, hadn't been cleaned. The bedding smelled like someone had wet the bed.We went to set the alarrm clock & it was sticky & had to washed. When we went to get the receipt July 25 we told the clerk at the desk how bad things were & he just shrugged his shoulders. They charged us $2.00 for the safe in the room which we didn't use as we weren't given a key or combination. We should have checked out the night of the 24th but we were too tired. The condition of those rooms isn't very good advertising for Ramada Inns. We have told our friends about that " wonderful " ?? experience. We will never stay at another Ramada Inn. WHERE ARE THE HEALTH INSPECTORS FOR CALGARY HOTELS ???????

Should be closed down!
By Ann, 5/2/08
A disgrace for the Ramada chain. Stayed at the hotel for three nights becuase I had prepaid my visit, would have forfeited my payment if I had left. The hotel is absolutely horrible! As a single female, I was given a room in the 'Annex' where the front door was unlocked all night - absolutely no security! Additionally, my room was right beside the fire exit where it looked as if a homeless person had been living (was living?). The furniture was old and partially broken. On top of everything, my computer got a virus while using the hotel's internet connection.

HORRIBLE DON'T GO THERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/08
I had a non-smoking room on the first floor. At first glance, it seemed okay, other then the smell of smoke. It had a fridge, stove, two beds, a bathroom, tv, all that stuff. But when looking closely, I realized that the fridge was gross and rusty, cracked and not very clean. The stove was old and gross as well. Later on, I was informed that in the room next to us, there were some people smoking pot. When i pulled the comforter back, I found some hair (head hair and...other hair). I was traveling in a group, and one of my friends staying in a different room went swimming in the pool. When she came out she had a huge rash on her arm and others had some on there legs, ect. I informed the front desk of the uncleanliness and went to supper, after being promised a clean room. I came back, to the room that had been specially cleaned for us, and it was worse than the first room. This was a 3 bedroom suite, with 2 rooms. The first room was the same as the other room i had, and the second room had a bed and a t.v. I pulled back the covers on this bed, and to my dismay, found even more hairs from the head and...that other place. My roomy pulled back the overs on her bed and found yellow stains on the bed. In the second room, we pulled the curtains from the window and there was a HUGE hole in one of the double sheeted windows. It looked like someone threw a soccer-ball sized bowling ball at the window. That bed was fine, but me and my 2 female roomies were too scared to sleep in that bed because of the window. So we pulled the blankets off the clean bed and we slept on top of the bed with stains, with those cleans blankets. Also, the water was contaminated so we couldn't brush our teeth that night or the next morning or even shower! I hated this hotel sooo much!

gross
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/08
there is a reason why this place is so cheap... for about the same price, you can stay downtown at the cecile hotel and it is cleaner than this place. for those of you who dont know what the cecile hotel is, it is a "pay by the hour" type hotel!!!

Horrific!
By Daniel, 2/25/08
We have lived overseas since 1986 and have stayed at some very basic accommodation in places like Xigatse, Colombo, Jeddah, and Sungai Golok, a border town where we had to padlock ourselves in, yet never have we had anywhere such an unbelievable experience as we did in... Calgary! It was Stampede Week and it seemed the entire city was booked. We felt lucky having found the Ramada Inn in Motel Village- it had a pool, nice location in the suburbs, and was only about $120/night. The morning after the first night I thought the reason I was itching was because the housekeepers must have left the windows open while they cleaned the day before, allowing mosquitoes to enter. I tried to find the mosquitoes in the morning, but there were none. The third day I woke up very early to notice an insect the size of a small ladybug crawling slowly on the sheets just below my face. I caught it and found it was full of blood. I wondered if it was a tick. I'd never seen anything like it. I then noticed here and there on the sheets what had to have been old blood stains in small drip patterns, now washed out, and I realized later these were indicative of a long-term infestation. I was able to catch several more engorged bedbugs, in full view of the motel manager. I had insisted that Mr. Charn come to the room to see what we were seeing. He subsequently got permission to 'comp' our stay. But it was already too late for me. That second night, the bedbugs must have swarmed me. One pinky finger had ten bites. I estimated I had easily hundreds of bites that itched with a fireceness I can't hope anyone to understand. I bought oral and topical antihistimines, but they didn't help much. At one point during the days ahead I had the not-so irrational thought to put my feet in fire to get relief. It probably would have worked! But I did write a letter to the Calgary Health region as well as to Ramada Inn HQ, to urge them to follow-up bedbug eradication measures the motel manager told me he would take. I asked Ramada HQ to write me back to describe their extermination next steps. They responded only by saying their obligation to us was fulfilled at the time they'd 'comped' our stay! As if I had written to get a voucher! With such accountability, you the traveller take your chances with extreme grief at this motel.

Needs an overhaul
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
This place needs an overhaul. The rooms smelled bad, the building was falling apart, and there was trash all over the parking lot. Can't comment much on the service since we were there for less than a day. The location is near a metro and close to the University of Calgary Stadium. There are several hotels in this area so you may want to read the reviews on those before booking.
