ok, but not a 3 star
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/11
I put in a bid for a 3 star, and I disagree that this qualifies as a 3 star hotel. The elevator is very odl, slow ans frightening. The place appears to be a hang out for lower middle class alcoholics on weekends. The pool was ok. It is near two grocery stores and a Boston Market. The room was fairly decent, and had a microwave and refrigerator. I felt the room was overpriced for what I paid for, but overall I would consdier it again. I have definately stayed in worse.

horrible, unprofessional, would never recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/11
I would like to file a formal complaint against the staff at Courtyard Marriot in Shelton, CT. I have never in my life have been treated so poorly and disrespected by the staff. As a guest at former Marriot hotels, I am appalled at the lack of professionalism by management and the staff. I was a guest for a formal event held May 7th, 2011. I booked two rooms for that evening, one for myself and the other for my guests. From the moment the event started, staff and security were already treating us poorly. I had purchased a beverage from the open bar at the end of cocktail hour and as I turned around to enter the ballroom, a staff member took my glass and told me I couldn’t bring my own beverages; meanwhile he just witnessed me purchasing it from their bartender. Towards the end of the evening security and staff members kept following myself as well as my guests as we would occasionally go upstairs to our rooms to use the restroom etc. Staff members continued to stay outside of my door and the doors of others throughout the night. Around 1pm I left my room to check on my guests next door, as security walks up to me screaming and yelling at me to “go back to my room because it was past my bedtime.” I am 22 years old and not a child. Myself and my guests were quite the whole night and so was the floor. There were no guest complaints and no issues, yet we were treated poorly by staff members just because we were young and in college. I felt so uncomfortable knowing that someone was outside my door for a good portion of the evening and early morning hours. During the morning I went to the pool and noticed there were no towels. I asked staff if they could bring some. A staff member came and hand delivered towels to guests with children who already had towels and completely ignored me. It wasn’t until an hour of asking the front desk, that the towels were brought to the pool. Also I was bringing my items to my car the morning of the 8th, around 10am, when my card access to my room was shut off. I did not check out yet at the time, and when asked guest services why it was shut off I was given no answer. The staff at the front desk was rude and cold towards me and wouldn’t allow me in my room to retrieve my belongings. I had to find a housekeeper in order to get into my room and she was also rude. I was nothing but polite and treated horribly. I want a full refund for both of the rooms that I paid for that evening. I refuse to pay for horrible, unprofessional service. I highly suggest that the staff learn proper etiquette and improve their customer service skills. I have no problem telling others about my horrible experience. My uncle was actually looking into having his wedding reception at this location but after hearing about this, he will not need of your services. While you have a beautiful establishment, the experience is tainted by the negative, disrespectful staff and management team that you employ there.

So/so
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/5/10
I've stayed at least a dozen times at this Courtyard Marriott over the past year or so. Initially, everything was very good-room cleanliness, staff helpfulness, food quality. Over the past several months there has been a distinct decline in room cleanliness. On the last visit, there were hairs and plastic clothing tags all over the floor. There's no way the room had been vacuumed. Over the past 3-4 months, the food qualities gone from quite adequate to unpalatable and customer service has had a comparable decline. I would not recommend this hotel based on recent visits.
