My first room, the air conditioning did not work. When I requested a room change, the phones were not working and I was treated rudely by a female at the front desk. My room was changed.. The housekeeper knocked on my door at 6:55am the next morning and asked if I wanted my room cleaned, I called the front desk to complain and I was told "that's how we do it here", I am presently reviewing my bill prior to checking out and now the computers are down, so no one can check on a question I had. I am writing this out of frustration and in hopes that the technology and preventive maintenance improve here.

The constant fire truck noise and the truck and car traffice (ridiculously early in the a.m.) made this a place we'll never choose again.

You can`t beat this place for friendliness of staff! They bend over backward to help you. I will stay there again when in Chicago.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Chicago Downtown on Hubbard St. for a week and loved how close it was to the Magnificent Mile. The staff was so helpful - we took take-out from the Bread Company restaurant and were given real plates and silverware to bring to our room. There is free Wi-Fi internet service in the lobby and in the attached Starbucks (loved having that so at-hand!). We walked to the Hard Rock Cafe and Rainforest Cafe, and to the bus stop at the corner of Michigan Ave and Hubbard St. If you are going to the Aquarium or Field Museum (or basically most places) you should get a bus pass. The buses are clean and new, and Chicagoans are very friendly and helpful. You can get a bus pass at Jewel-Osco, for 3 days, 7 days or 1 day. There is an indoor heated pool and an adjoining patio area with a pretty view of the city and lots of lounge chairs. Even a grill if you feel like cooking. The beds were super comfortable (as all Marriott's are) and the room was newly decorated and clean with enough storage for two kids and two grown-ups stuff for 5 days.

The staff was essential to our enjoyment of not only the Marriott, but Chicago as well. They went above and beyond to accomodate us and ensure our stay was memorable. Outstanding front desk team! Excellent stay in spite of closed pool which is beyond their control... a big thank you!

I traveled to Chicago with my daughter (8) for a Girl's Weekend. We LOVED this hotel. We arrived hours before scheduled and were allowed to check in early with no hassle at all. The hostess at the desk was ready with many suggestions and was very patient with my daughter to ensure she helped us plan the perfect day. The doorman was very friendly and remembered our names during our stay. The staff was extremely accommodating and helped us get out of a few jams. We forgot to pack a few items and they were very helpful. They were "extra extra careful" with my daughter's American girl doll (held on to her while we were shopping). When we left a bag at the hotel they were quick to respond so that we wouldn't miss our departure. The hotel is very crisp, clean and offers something for everyone. It also is one of the few hotels with a indoor pool downtown. This is a very family friendly hotel. The staff is beyond warm and caring. The beds are GREAT and so is the location. Although I was traveling with my daughter and intentionally booking a family friendly hotel I would not hesitate to stay here again without children.

the hotel was great. the room was great. the food was great. the pool was great. the service was great. i wouldn't drive a car and park it. it cost to much to park downtown. use a cab to get to places. it is much cheaper.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is in a very good location for tourists. Highly recommendable.

The room was relatively standard. No frills. The lounge and restaurant were under construction (January 2007) so both were closed. We were woken up both nights by noisy guests... it sounded like they were in OUR room. We had to request another coffee maker (ours had garbage in it) and our phones did not work, nor did the ice machine on our floor. The customer service was good, although we had to physically get on the elevator and go down to the front desk since our telephones did not work. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile, many restaurants and bars. It was certainly much less expensive than most Chicago hotels so overall it was worth the money.

We went on our senior trip to Chicago, and we stayes at the Courtyard by Marriott. The staff was very pleasant, and they treated us greatly, and did not have a problem with them. Even when we got locked out of our rooms, they gave us new keys! We had an excellent time!
