Stay Away
By timothy, 11/23/09
For the price this hotel stinks. Staff obviously can not read englis as on Saturday and Sunday they knocked on the door and on Sunday there waas hammering all day until 6:00pm so Holiday Inn could care less about a persons comfort this aggrivation was also present the last time I was put up here. The internet connection is horrible as the wireless connection is virtually non existant and even with a cable to the hotels system is iffy. The last time I was in the gym half the equipment was not working. The area is not the greatest and if you do not have to stay here find somewhere else. The Days Inn on E st. is a lot better and cheaper.

it was great!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/08
All of the staff was fantastic!, the rooms were nice, clean and comfortable, the views of sandiego bay and navy ships were great. Even the hotel food was good, and not for a bad price either. Over all i am glad i didn't waste my money to say downtown or in an exspensive hotel. This hotel was great

Stay Away ... maybe at $50/nite
By J C, 06/05/08
Hotel is old, on the Holiday Inn website it says that it has been renovated, it hasn't. The beds are old, the noise for the highway is loud, large gaps in the door closing, the business around the hotel are all barred up, high speed interenet was at dial up speed, I waited up to 90 minutes for the shuttle to pick me up, in the first room the TV didn't work, the second it worked enough. I was booked in there on a conference trip at $139/nite ... ouch. Most of the travelers I talked to where ones like me that this would be the only trip or they were government related/employeed that was where the government puts them (at a greatly reduced rate) . After several weeks I still haven't recieve my credit of Priorty Club points. This hotel is a franchise so Holiday Inn has no power over the hotel to get anything corrected. I gave it a two on service just because the bartender and waiter were good. This is not a value stay.... unless your are only paying $50/nite.

Not bad
By Traveler, 06/04/08
My husband and i stayed there for 2 night, we didn't like that around the area there was not a decent place to eat..the bed was so confortable and the maid was so nice, we love her!!little lady she should be at the front desk and put as maid the front desk lady.. we also didn't like that they made a mistake when we check in, i asked for a one King bed and she was sending me to a 2 beds queen, they give me my requested room but after a few hours they called to our room telling that they were about to change us room because the careless front desk lady made a mistake.. we notices when we got to the room that the welcome letter was address to some other couple and not us. .. just be careful with them , i even called to confirm that i was getting the right room but they didn't care about it. don't expect a good customer services tho!!!

More like a Motel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
The pictures that I saw online for this specific location looks nothing like the real deal. My friends and I were planning on staying 5 nights and ended up staying only 2 before moving to a better hotel. First of all, we had requested a room with two queen sized beds and got a room with two full sized ones. Our room was humid and the A.C. was not properly working, it was cooler outside. The room smelled of dampness and gave one of my friends and myself allergies. I also did not expect it to be in the type of neighborhood it was in. None of our belongings were missing but we were a bit paranoid about leaving valuable things out in the open. I recommend the Holiday Inn Bayside location, they have more services and the location and rooms are nicer. I will never go back to the National City Holiday Inn.

Second Time Around
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/30/08
This was the second time we've stayed at this hotel and found it even better than the first time. We liked everything about the hotel, especially the staff in the dining area. They were so polite, efficient, but most of all, so friendly. The room was also very clean. The only drawback is the street noise. It can be noisy on either side of the hotel because of the I-5 on one side and the main street on the other side. However,we'll certainly stay there again the third time around.

Not worth 100 bucks a night
By K, 01/25/08
This hotel I guess would be the lesser of 2 evils it's the nicest in National City but still way too expensive given the quality of the room and service. The front desk people were not that nice and the room was so noisy due to the traffic on the I-5. The sink was busted and there was drops of water leaking through the vent in the room. It was pretty clean but smelt musty, I would not stay here again unless I absolutely had to.

Look a bit more.
By Ticker, 10/12/07
The hotel was, nice. There is no continental breakfast of any sort. You have to buy individual meals from their restaurant, I didn't feel like spending the extra cash so we didn't eat there. It was moderately priced. The beds have pillow top mattresses and that was VERY nice, they even have a "pillow menu" if you need a certain pillow, they'll get it for you at no cost! The hot tub, it was hot, but didn't push much bubbles through. Seemed like the pump was going out, VERY clean tho. The swimming pool holds 30 people and is heated and VERY clean as well. The hotel property is clean and so was our room. The rooms? They were ok, nothing really fancy about them, but it was nice, much nicer then Motel 6, but not fancy. The air conditioner was pretty loud. The "ocean view" everyone is talking about..... Don't get your hopes up too much, its not much of a view. There is a view of the ocean, but its more of the Naval station view. I think one of the biggest downfalls is its location, easy access to and from I-5, but WOW! ITS NOISY, It won't keep you awake noisy, but you open the door and you hear all the traffic on I-5 as well as the side streets. The wireless internet was free and fast. Would I go back? 80% sure I would. I have no real complaints about the hotel, or the room, just the loud traffic. I hope this helps with your planning.

Very friendly hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/07
The staff was very friendly. The restaurant has great food, but if you don't get there early, you will have a long wait. We would eat breakfast around 8am until our last day when we ate at 10:30am. There were only 2 waiters and the dining room was packed. Our room was immaculate, but a little noisy. We were on the third floor oceanview and the air conditioning unit for the hotel was right below us. So we couldn't leave the door open because it was so loud. It was a nice view, but the units never shut off. They have a shuttle bus that takes you within 5 miles, which was really convenient. We didn't rent a car, because the trolley is right there as well. The shuttle took us to the convention center, the gaslamp quarter and the airport. If you go, you need to call about an hour in advance - they don't tell you that unless you ask. The area was very desolate, nothing within walking distance except for a convenience store and Jack in the Box.

It was as good as i expected
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/06
i liked the quick check in, the friendly customer service. The clean room, and the hot well pressurized water... excellent.... But the room had a damp smell and i think the door was closed for so long and there was not much of the fresh air in the room circulating....i really disliked the smell
