Motel 6, Binghamton

It started off bad when the directions from Motel 6 were wrong and got worse from there. It is located on the left, almost directly under the Interstate making it rather noisy. We turned on the air conditioner to help drown out the noise and it was even louder than the traffic. Our room was right across from the door leading out to the parking lot, which banged every time someone entered or exited. The sound of the door was not noticeable with the other noises until midnight or so when we were trying to sleep, and foot traffic picked up. A fire alarm went off around 8pm, ringing for approximately a half hour with NO explanation from anyone including the Fire Department who showed up to check things out & turn it off. When we checked out my husband was told, "Just be glad it didn't happen at 2 in the morning." There was also water still in the soap dish area of the shower when I went to use it the next morning. Was this from the last person who stayed there or housekeeping? I have a feeling it was from the last person who stayed in the room since there was a thick layer of dust on the legs of the table & chairs. I wouldn't have noticed the dust if someone hadn't run there finger over it, leaving a clean area that made it stand out like a sore thumb. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else, I wish we had!

I liked that my pets were allowed there. My toy dog and cat don't make any noise and they are well behaved. It's also too cold to stay in the car. So I was happy to have them in the room with us. Also we were right in the middle of everything and off the highway. Which was totally great. We stayed another day, just because it was actually pretty good. I normally stay at Comfort Inn, but at this price in this economy. I will stay here.

I ordered a non smoking room and got one (it least is was marked as one #224). It WAS reeking of cigarette stanch. I asked to change the room but the clerk said that they are fully booked. I had to wait a long time at the front desk for service. There are much nicer motels around.
