Travelodge Bay Beach, Virginia Beach

Ok when I booked my hotel stay with this particular hotel/motel I didn't get to reading very many of the reviews until after I had already gave my CC number and then I went back on the site and started reading. I was terrified of what I had read. People dogged this place so damn bad I was thinking Id rather loose the money than to stay there, and that is what I was prepared to do. So we decided to go check the place out before we went elsewhere..Glad we did, it was a very basic motel, there was nothing special about the place, I mean it was not fit for royalty, but the average Americans looking to have a decent place to stay while their money was spent having a good time, this was that type of place. I mean people were talking about very basic stuff that they disliked. The room was clean and the microwave and fridge were both clean, the toilet was not that bad at all...Just very basic. It is close the the Chesapeake Bay just as it says, and that was nice, it was within walking distance. The main beach was about a 10 minute drive, that is where all the action was. We had a great time and are glad we checked in to this motel. Dont believe everything you read on here. All I have to say to those that were picking it apart was if you think you are so high and mighty, why the hell didn't you book a room at the Hilton or one of the other fabulous hotels there? Dont go into a basic motel and expect it to be rich and fancy.

The Travelodge was very reasonably priced. Close to beach, within walking distance to good restaurants. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The pool was clean, the area is nice. It is a nice quiet place. I will definitely go back and recommend it.

I can't complain about a thing! I can tell that your staff take pride in their work; it shows in the great quality of everything. We live in Central Virginia; so we keep the love in the family. Always remember: Virginia is for Lovers!! Thank you for a vacation we all always look forward too.

This hotel is not a good value for the money. What threw us off even more is that we checked in late on a Thursday night and the person working the front desk was sleeping in her chair. I was not impressed. The location was nice, but that was about it!

Those giving a good review of this place must be staff or owners. Came out of the Shower and stepped on a Nail in the room. When I told the clerk she knew exactly where it happened. Never asked how I was or offered any assistance. She did give me a hammer so that I could drive the nail in. There's a reason they have a No Refund Policy.

The room wasn't a good value. The manager told us over the phone that the motel was on Virginia Beach. It is about a block inland from the Chesapeake Bay beach. To get to the Virginia Beach oceanfront you have to drive about 8 or 9 miles down Shore Drive. Don't stay at this motel if you want to be near all of the tourist attractions. This motel is too far away from the oceanfront to be worth it. Plus you have to pay for parking at the oceanfront (whereas parking is free if you're staying in an oceanfront hotel). You'd be better off staying in a hotel on Virginia Beach's oceanfront.
