Rude service+Filthy Room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/08
Me and my father have very hectic busy lives and had planned to have a long relaxing weekend break and decided for part of it we would spend 2 nights in Aberaeron, I found the feathers Royal Hotel on the internet and thought it looked perfect. I called and booked a family room for 2 nights, I doubled checked the price with the receptionist which was two nights for £140, On arrival the town of Aberaeron is gorgous, however, the reception that we recieved from the feathers royal hotel was not. We stood at the reception desk for 20mins with no service what so ever, my father went in search for a member of staff whom on response huffed and puffed her way round to the desk. She was very un-helpful and quite frankly very rude. No offer of help with our bags, not even a vague direction to where our room was, we had to find out for ourselves. The room itself was lovely, full of character, however the sea view was nothing more than a perfect view of the tarmac roof. The toilet was revolting to say the least, splatter all down the pan and under the seat itself was covered with urine. The glass shelf above the sink was water stained and toothpaste smudged. The bath looked clean on sight but when I actually used it, i can only describe it as slimey. The beds beneath looked clean but from the state of the bathroom I had my doubts and on closer inspection were unfortuantely stained. The top decrotive cover had left over sticky sweets stuck to it and the bedside tables had mug rings and dust all over them. We left the room to have a walk around the pretty harbour and then went back to the hotel to rest, unfortunately a wedding party had begun and we were blessed with loud thudding music from 7.00pm until 3am in the morning, it was that loud that we could hear every word of every song whilst we were desperately trying to sleep. We decided that we would not stay at the feathers royal hotel for the second night. To top it off a second different receptionist at the desk was equally as rude as the first and thankfully did only charge us for the one night however the price was actually in fact £140.00 PER NIGHT and so the information I had originally been given was incorrect. There was also no reassurance that room had been cleaned AT ALL prior to our stay. Sadly we will not be visiting The Feathers Royal Hotel again and wouldn't reccomend it to anyone else.

Is it the same as in august?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/07
I visited the Feathers with my wife in early august 2007 for a meal and we had an amazing time. The food was exquisite and the service attentive but not overly intrusive. We decided that whenever we drove through Aberaeron again we would stay for another meal. But what a dissappointment it was! We had trouble getting served since the barman was occupied on his mobile phone. The menu looked good but what came out kitchen was rubbish! Over cooked and badly presented is two very kind comments I had about it. The rest of them aren't fit for public reading. Gone is apparently the head chef that was there for the opening with the hotel and it looks like the knowledge of good food and service gone with him!

disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/07
WE FOUND THE HOTEL VERY PLEASANT, BUT AFTER BEING SEATED FOR OUR MEAL WE COULD HEAR THE STAFF SWEARING THE YOUNG LADY THAT SERVED US WAS UNTIDY THE RESTAURANT DIRTY. THE FOOD WAS LIKABLE. THE HOTEL WOULD BE BETTER CONCENTRATING ON THEIR STANDARDS AND NOT HOW PRETTY IT LOOKS.
