terrible

I think the Hotel Apollo Opera, that your agency booked for a three star hotel does not meet any of the standards a very basic hotel is supposed to come up to. The price you charged is way beyond what their price-list was and is inacceptable for the rooms and circumstances there. During our stay there we have complained, switched room and made several complaints with no satisfying result whatsoever. I have called your agency´s service number and asked for a proper solution but you were not able to do anything to help the situation. The first room we were accommodated in was on the ground floor, right behind the reception desk and lobby area, next to the public hotel toilet, having no windows and no working heating, being loud and very shabby. We then complained to the reception manager who was not willing to do anything about the situation nor willing to call his boss or whoever was in charge. The next day they changed us to another room on the sixth floor, right under the rooftop – which obviously was not leak proof as fungus and damp spots on the room´s ceiling indicated. The room was located right next to the technic utility room, which made a constant loud humming noise so that the floor and walls felt vibrating 24 hours daily. When we first entered the bathroom we found pubic hair on the toilet seat and the bathroom floor, the drain in the bathtub was full of disgusting dirt. In one of the other rooms occupied by our company a perfume bottle appeared out of the shower drain after 2 days! The heating was so loud we had to turn it down during the night. Not to mention the condition of the bathtub, shower, tiles, furniture and carpet or the staff´s attitude.

3 star my foot!
By ,
This hotel has nothing going for it but it's staff. Small, smelly rooms. Broken shower with lukewarm water. Toilet with no toilet roo holder. Constant street noise all night. Very ordinary breakfast. Hotel located amongst strip joints and sex shops. All in all a fairly unpleasant stay.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Cancelled My Reservation and Rebooked Me in a TERRIBLE 2 Star Hotel
By ,
I recently tried to stay at the Apollo Opera in March 2005. However upon arriving at the hotel at 9 PM, I found that my prepaid reservation made through a travel agency was cancelled. They claimed there was an issue with one of the rooms (which normally I am okay with and happy to move to another similar hotel). However, after speaking with the front desk for over 45 minutes (I'm fluent in French), I got mixed reasons for why my reservation was cancelled. They offered to move me to another hotel, but it was a 2 star hotel - the Apollo Opera is 3 star. I insisted for over an hour that I would not move to a lower grade hotel, but their response was essentially, "Sorry - you've already prepaid for your hotel and we're moving you to a 2 star hotel that we do business with." The new hotel was TERRIBLE and located 20 minutes from the Apollo Opera (where I wanted to stay because it is 50 meters from the Moulin Rouge and right by a metro).
