pretty to look at, but overpriced and disappointing

La Corsette Maison offers beautiful rooms at too high a price . We were instructed that we had to turn on the water to the large old fashioned tub by stretching and reaching behind the tub to the main valves because the tub leaks. In addition, there was no way to wash your hair. You have to use a small bucket that the hostess provides to hold under the faucet and then pour over your head. Unfortunately, the tub faucet is located at the bottom of the tub. Once the tub fills two inches, you gather and pour soapy water over your hair. The hostess controls the thermostat to your room, and will turn off the air conditioning in the evening so that you wake up stifling in the middle of the night. The room is also full of written instructions and restrictions about what you cannot do. The refrigerator was unplugged and hot when we arrived.
The price is not high for an area that offers good service as well. However, La Corsette does NOT offer good service. For example, we had to leave early one day, and our hostess informed us that she would not prepare breakfast earlier (although she told us several times that she would do so for corporate clients) and didn't offer to lower the price for lack of the included breakfast. The one breakfast we did get to eat was delicious, but the hostess reprimanded us for approaching the buffet where the food was laid out, and wanted everybody seated so that it could be passed around family style.
You can sit on the porch you see on their website, but it looks out onto a yard bordered by a fairly busy street in the middle of Newton. It is not located in a quiet country environment, or even a quiet neighborhood. There is nothing to justify the high price charged by the inn except the lovely furnishings.
