5 reviews for Castle Makahuena at Poipu, Poipu Beach
Unfortunately I would not recommend to anyone...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/09
Awesome ocean front view, however being it's a condotel not worth the harassment we experienced by a resident there who mentioned she pays $900 to live there and asked what were we doing there? She followed, questioned and harassed us and other friends of ours that visited us. No AC. Needed to purchase basic supplies that should have been provided in the condo. Stayed only 4 nights.

Expect no air conditioning!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
I was not told ahead of time that this property does not have air conditioning. While the trade winds cooled the place off at night, it was very warm during the day. In addition, while we had a beautiful ocean front view, the thunderous surf kept us awake at night, because we needed to keep the doors and windows open. The surf crashing 30 feet away from our door caused me a little anxiety. I would not want to be here during a storm. Our two-bedroom unit was nicely furnished and relatively clean, but some of the fixtures needed replacement. The hanging light in the dining area was rusted, as were the window frames in the bathrooms. One of the handles to open the bathroom window was rusted shut. A broken lucite towel rack in the master bath was crudely nailed together, and the towel ring was missing from another. It is a lovely place otherwise. It seems like the owners are slowly fixing the place up, because the entire condo had new tile, which was very nice. Because we needed to keep windows open, the furniture cushions in the living room were constantly damp, making them uncomfortable.

I AND/OR PARTS OF MY FAMILY HAVE SYAYED AT THE MAKAHUENA ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES IN THE PAST 15 YEARS.I/WE HAVE YET TO HAVE A PROBLEM. PRICE, LOCATION, SERVICE AND PERSONNEL, FROM THE LADIES IN THE OFFICE TO THE "BIG KAHUNA" HIMSELF HAVE GONE OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ATTEND TO OUR NEED. NOT ONLY -WOULD WE GO BACK - MY SON AND I ARE GOING BACK THIS YEAR IF THEY HAVE AVALABILITY. THE CONDO ON THE FAR EASTERN END IS OUR FAVORITE,FOR COMFORT, VIEW, AMENITIES AND PRICE. Love Makahuena
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/05
We've stayed at this resort 3 times now and really enjoy it. Great for those who want a smaller complex, away from crowds and quiet. Great views from most units. We've stayed in buildings on both sides, 2 story condo, and loved them. We plan to go in April 2006 and stay at the ocean front unit. I'd recommend this to everyone who just wants to get away. If you don't want/need restuarant or lots of activities on sight, this is great. I'd recommend it and we always go back.
