second class guest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/11
this is a 3star hotel at best, only good thing was location. we have stayed at 5star and 6star hotels around the world and this is the worst. we used marriott points, 30,000 per night, and was treated like second class guest. small room, no view and no perks. they even wanted to charge for internet access. we will stay elsewhere next year .

Calm after the storm
By Cinderella, 3/17/09
From the moment the cab pulled up to the front, I was treated so well. All I said to the doorman was, "Checking in", and they got my suitcases out of the trunk and into the hotel before I even arrived at the check in desk. All the personnel were very attentive. My room was "city view" and overlooked the buildings of downtown Sydney. And what a sunset view from that room! Excellent. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. It was very relaxing, especially since I was just returning from a trip into the Outback and Uluru for several days. The location is perfect - one block from Circular Quay and within walking distance of most of downtown Sydney. Loved it! The hotel felt like coming home. I will definitely return there on my next visit to Sydney.

Great views, location and staff
By gaynboston, 5/11/08
I have stayed here multiple times, starting before it was renamed Marriott from the Rennaissance. The rooms on the city side are slightly smaller than those facing the Opera House, but are quite comfortable, and could not be called small. Those facing the Opera House have an incredible view of that building, as well as Circular Quay, the harbor, and the Royal Botanical Gardens. While not super-luxurious, all rooms are certainly well appointed, with fantastic beds and baths. If at all possible, upgrade to the Executive Floors. The Executive/Concierge Lounge is possibly the finest in the Marriott brand, staffed by a truly caring group of multi-national employees. Australia is getting expensive for Yank's, but this hotel is well priced for the services.

Incridble Disapointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/1/08
INCREDIBLY DISAPOINTING!!! My family and I save all year to splurge on an expensive luxury holiday for one week each year. Upon arrival at the Marriott it SEEMED to live up to its reputation as a luxury hotel. I was absolutely devastated upon seeing the size of the rooms. We had been given a room on a smoking floor – which we guessed immediately after the elevator doors opened – it reeked. When we queried this we were told we would have to wait for a non-smoking room to be available and that we had a corner room which was actually slightly bigger than the other rooms (I would hate to be caged in them if they were smaller than the one we stayed in). I could have cried. I have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms at a variety of star rating levels. This accommodation was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The price is astronomical – which I don’t mind paying if you get value for money – which we definitely didn’t. If you like cramped accommodation and paying in excess of the actual value give this place a go. If you are looking for true luxury and a decent deal then look elsewhere!

The View From A Far
By Tiffany, 4/4/07
I was just recently in Sydney visiting a friend of mine and I stayed at the Harbour Marriott and let me tell you this place was seriously gorgeous & luxurious. My friend Daisy had referred me to this Hotel and so I took her recommendation prior to the trip and she did not steer me wrong. I was especially pleased with the staff of the hotels, how ever so friendly and thoughtful. Kinda hard for me to understand Australians sometimes so some of the staff did not mind repeating things for me 1,2,3, or even 4 times. The had a spa so I had to take advantage of that. The room I had was the One Bedroom Suite and this room came with an amazing view of the Opera House & Sydney Harbour Bridge. Nightlife in Sydney is the best while there I was invited to atleast 5 parties so the nightlife is on and happening. I gave this Hotel 5 stars, which means this property was excellent, and believe me it was. Totally recommendable, and, I will definately be staying here again!!!

Great location - great beds
By Brooke, 3/17/07
The location was perfect, and the price compared to similar hotels in the location can't be beat. With the new Marriott beds it was pure heaven. We had views of both the bridge and Opera house...perfect!

I'll never stay in another hotel in sydney
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/06
Staff, hotel layout, services, comfortable rooms, lounge bar, all the best that I've experienced in Sydney, maybe a touch expensive but with that view and location you can't really grumble

the best location money can buy!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/05
It is located in the absolute heart of Sydney. My partner and i spent the late afternoon with eyes glued to the window, watching the sun fall over the majestic harbour, from our hotel room. Our room was prepared on arrival (even though we arrived early) and the service at the reception was of high quality. They were very helpful with any request and even filed a complaint when i got food poisening at a Sydney restaurant. The rooms aren't special - standardised hotel rooms - but the location, views and service give the hotel its 5 stars.
