Great Hotel, Location for the price
By Amanda, 12/20/10
The Hotel Argus is great! Visiting as a young single female from the US on my own- I loved it. I never felt unsafe by ANY standards either in the hotel or on the street. It is across the street from GREAT shopping (Versace, Chanel, DVF, Valentino, etc.). Also, it is very easy to get to from Midi (two stops down on the metro). Location is great- not too far from the city center but just far enough away to not feel like a herded tourist. Fantastic restaurants and upscale clubs to go to nearby. Good mix of old and young crowd in the area. The room was a decent size in contrast to the other review on here. It was "smaller" than "American standards" but not much. If you need a Vegas sized suite- go to the Hilton. But for the rest of us who have reasonable expectations, the room was perfect. The bath and shower were clean and modern- with plenty of space in the bathroom to move around and get ready in. Breakfast is provided with the room. I did not eat at the restaurant but I am assuming it is a standard european breakfast offering of meats, cheeses, and an assortment of pastried. Three downfalls- 1. Elevator is inconvenient. You have to walk down a flight stairs and go down a hall to access the elevator. I weigh 130 lbs and had one large (40 lb) suitcase with me and I was able to manage- but for the elderly, might not be suitable. 2. Their idea of luggage storage is in the lobby by the office door- completely out in the open. Sometimes there is a desk attendant- sometimes there is not. (or they are in the back taking care of something.) While pillaging a hotel for 40 lb suitcases might not be some criminals' ideal robbery, it isn't the most secure situation for my nomadic lifeline. 3. Petty- but the bedding is outdated. Also- no view of anything. Basic and comfortable accomodations for cheap in a great location without sacrificing conveniences, but lacking in the luxury and "chicness".

Impulse trip to Brussels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/05
I was in Brussels on impulse so I didn't have a reservation. These folks were great and let me have the weekend discount anyway. Friendly and helpful staff: their restaurant recommendation was spot on; they let me leave my car in the garage after check-out to go shopping for a few hours; provided all kinds of help to get me back OUT of the city and headed in the right direction. Room was a little small per US standards and the elevator arrangement was kinda awkward, but on the whole it was a good hotel. Would recommend and revisit.
