First and Last stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/11
When you first walk in, the customer service is great but the whole place needs to be updated. From the sofa and carpet in the lobby to the sheets on my bed that had holes in them, this place appears to be falling apart. I even had a few boogers on the wall in the bathroom with water stains on the ceiling. They were nice about giving me a free upgrade due to my dissatisfaction. The new room had holes in the sheets as well. Rates should be $70 not $145.

Don't go. Needs renovation and new management.
By Mike, 6/26/10
1)Lobby looks good, but it's downhill from there. The wallpaper in the rooms was filthy. 2)I say "rooms" because the toilet in the first room clogged. A note to the cleaning staff in the AM did no good. When we got to the room in the late PM it was still clogged. The night staff was no help because there was only one person and he was caught manning the front desk. Had to move to a different room. 3)In the second room the wallpaper was filthier, the wall airconditions unit was dirty and on its last leg. The caulkling arount the window was dirty and goopy. The metal ring around the bathroom door nob was loose. 4)The elevator broke and we had to spend a morning going up an down the stairs. 5)Got a free buffet breakfast for our toilet troubles. The buffet closes at 11 AM. We got there by 10:30 and the eggs were gone and they didn't bother to replenish them. If the buffet is open to 11 then there should be food there to 11 AM. 6)If the hotels in the area weren't packed we would have moved out. 7)People who work there were nice enough about it.

Doubletree is a good place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/09
Our room was large, clean and neat. We had no issues and feel that we got our money's worth. We liked having TGI Friday's in the hotel. If we missed eating, we could always get something at Friday's. We recommend The Doubletree. The only negative was the uneven customer service. We encountered the customer service issue throughout our stay in Memphis.

Acceptable but not great.
By ssnake3, 6/29/09
I had the misconception that Doubletree was a premium Hotel, and based on this location it was at one time. However, this hotel has passed its prime and is in need of a thorough overhaul. The lobby is pretty nice, but the rooms fall short. Wallpaper peeling from walls, outdated furninshings, old TV with poor picture and noisy electronics, this place was probably nice in 1992... but not it 2009.

BEWARE - Poor Service Not Clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/09
We arrived late and were not given our AAA discount. The trashcan in the bathroom was not emptied - full of used personal products. The bath had mold around the bottom of the tiles. Requested a mini fridge - told they don't have them. The double rooms have only full size beds, so requested a cot, was told they don't have cots. Asked for extra blanket and pillow so son could sleep on floor. Was told "Housekeeping had already left". Was told breakfast was in the TGI Friday's (in hotel lobby)....surprised by $12pp charge for buffet. Was told they had parking, but when arrived was informed it was valet only and cost $20 per night extra.

It's ok if not in a rush to check in!!!!!
By joe, 7/27/08
the hotel was very clean, The weight room need to be checked on a little more often for workout odor. the location was great!!!! The value was pretty good for the area. People will always want more for less(hints) Service: customer service was freindly but need to be more aware of how reservation are beening handle online and on the phone. You are told one thing online and on the phone, then when you arrive there are NO ROOMS AVAILABLE!!!! I THINK RESERVATIONS NEED TO BE HANDLE ALOT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THEY ARE!!!! IF YOU ARE THE FIRST CUSTOMER TO MAKE A RESERVATION (for example: july 19.2008 that day) then they should be accomadated up on arrival. I know some people arrive late but still they should be register upon arrival. These things need to be done in a row according to who made reservation FIRST for that day!!!!! Last we had a problem with towels not being ready when needed. I think the hotel need to perpare for these type of problems. I ask for fresh towels at 8:30 or 9:00 am before i leave at 11:45 and stil did not received them.I used some of my brother towels who was accross the hall. I think this was because of two people in laundry department being out. YOU HAVE A GREAT HOTEL, BUT DON'T CRASH IT BECAUSE OF LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH STAFF!!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!

Rude!
By Angel, 7/16/08
This hotel has very poor customer service. They also do not hold up to their promises when you reserve a room online and then phone them to get information. Upon checking in we were told a very different story.

Don't plan on going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/08
The pictures on the web pages I found were very nice and the hotel was located in a good location for things we wanted to do. Good things -nice and clean -resturant people were nice and cut a cake for me. -cookies were good -manager cut bill for things that went wrong -Has a Kroger right around the corner for breakfest food Frustrations -tried to give our friend wrong room -service not friendly -pool is a indoor-outdoor (not shown in pictures) and NOT heated. Very cold for winter. -after trying to swim in cold pool we had no hot water in room -for the price we were to pay (about $140) NO breakfest but could get a cereal breakfest for $7.50 NOT!!!

Poor Management and Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/08
My husband and I got a room for my in-laws 50th anniversary, and upon arriving they were greeted with poor customer service. We requested a room with a king size bed, smoking. Upon entering the room my father in law called down to the desk and asked if he could smoke in the room, the said no, and he told them the confirmation page says smoking. They asked to be moved, they waited 20 minutes for someone to bring the new keys up, and still no one he went down to the desk and received the keys, going to their new room, they found 2 full beds but a smoking room. Who wants to spend their 50th anniversary in seperate beds. They complained to only to be greeted with rude remarks and a threat to have the police called on them. (Now my father in law is a baptist minister and a retired Vietnam Vet so how much yelling did he do) finally they had enough and checked out. We have been fighting back and forth getting several reasons as to why they acted the way they did and why they will not refund out money. Even there management handled the situation rude, I called and waited 3 hours for them to call me back, and then calling again received another manager who listened and said sorry not going to help you and hung up on me. I can't believe a place can treat their guest so rude and not care.
