Nags Head Beach Hotel (Travelodge)
My stay in this particular hotel was not pleasant. My reservation was made over the phone directly with the hotel. The reservation was supposed to be for a 2-day stay, arriving Friday night and checking out on Sunday. I needed a pet room, and I was told it would be on the 1st floor and would include a pet fee. I was never told what the pet fee was, but I was told that the total rate for room & taxes would be $108/night. I thought the 1st floor would be convenient to take the dog outside when needed. When I arrived late Fri night, they said my reservation was for Thur for one night. So, they had me for a no show as they had made the wrong reservation. The hotel was booked and no 1st floor rooms were available.
We were placed on the 4th floor in a room that was not clean. The bathroom had mildew on the ceiling and tiles. The bath tub's emergency drain was loose and hanging by one screw. There was a piece of woman's lingerie wedged between the air conditioning unit and the wall. And the AC/Heat did not work well. Saturday morning, I was awakened by construction noises in the room directly next to mine. After a late arrival on Friday, I had wanted to sleep in and the noise began as early as 8 or 9 am. Each time I went by the desk to speak to someone, they were very pleasant and kind but told me I needed to check with the person on the next shift. They did not offer to change me to another room, and I assumed it was b/c the hotel was still full. I checked at the desk on Sat night to ensure my card was not charged a no-show fee. I was told they could not tell & to check again on Sunday when I checked out of the hotel. On Sunday morning, the gentleman at the desk said I was credited the no-show fee and gave me a total due that was greater than the $108 rate for the two nights. I told him about the problems I had during my stay, and he asked if I told the front desk. I answered I had on several occassions, and 'no' they had not offered to change my rooms. I told him I disagreed with the total due as it was higher than the $108/night rate quoted to me. I was suprised that his only offer of customer satisfaction was to remove the pet fee and the taxes associate with it.
Overall, I was surprised of the condition of the room for a newly renovated hotel.
