Kill Devil Travelodge stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/11
We liked the location. It allowed us to bring a small dog we have. Close to beach. Easy to reach main road. Overall a good value. Edwin and Deborrah Cruz

Good deal for the price
By RAllen1st, 8/15/07
Check-in staff very friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to check in early. Kind of noisy though (can't really blame the hotel, more like customer's fault). Although not oceanside, the beach was just across the street. My daughter and her friends noticed several defects with their rooms - missing and/or broken towel rack, lights not working, cigarette burn holes in the blankets (in a non-smoking room). I didn't encounter any of those difficulties. If I go back to OBX (a real big IF), I wouldn't mind staying again at this travelodge.

dishonest
By Jennifer, 5/22/07
Our stay was ok but the end of our vacation was ruined because the hotel held up our account. The account that we used was put on hold for the bill amount plus 70 more dollars. We were not informed that this would happen and I was assured that no money would be held. If you deal with this hotel, I suggest using cash only!

Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/06
We don't plan to ever go back to this particular hotel. Why, you ask? There were roaches, a badly soiled carpet which was wet in spots, the toilet ran about once every thirty minutes on its own, the bathtub drained poorly, the towels were dingy, the fire alarm went off at 2:00 a.m. for no apparent reason...(perhaps a roach got inside and set it off?), the room safe did not work, and we heard nonstop music by the pool for over 12 hours a day. Not recommended.

Beware of this budget hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/06
The lobby smelled like cat urine. The rooms are unbelievably dirty with badly soiled carpets and a roach problem. They never changed the dirty sheets for three days. The towels were gray and some had holes. One towel on our towel bar was actally a rag for cleaning that was covered in brown paint. They really don't care about the customer. The rooms are dirty the pool is dirty. You can walk a block to the beach which is very rough water. If you want to surf it could work for you. Breakfast was cereal or a bagel in a small room. If you can sleep in a place that has no concept of cleanliness and you don't mind the filth and smell it would be an OK stay for a night or two.

Travelodge
By Valerie, 6/17/06
The location is good (not the best) just across the road from the beach, I only say this because after arriving I realized I should have forked out the extra cash to stay right on the beach for the view. The pool is nice, there is an arcade room and the room balconies are nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

I like the place the fact that it is near the public access beach area.parking space is ample. breakfast is included. basic fares only do not expect a grand buffet. rooms are clean and neat.although the tub isn't draining very well. good enough for a weekender.

Nags Head Beach Hotel (Travelodge)
By JedinaI, 5/5/06
My stay in this particular hotel was not pleasant. My reservation was made over the phone directly with the hotel. The reservation was supposed to be for a 2-day stay, arriving Friday night and checking out on Sunday. I needed a pet room, and I was told it would be on the 1st floor and would include a pet fee. I was never told what the pet fee was, but I was told that the total rate for room & taxes would be $108/night. I thought the 1st floor would be convenient to take the dog outside when needed. When I arrived late Fri night, they said my reservation was for Thur for one night. So, they had me for a no show as they had made the wrong reservation. The hotel was booked and no 1st floor rooms were available. We were placed on the 4th floor in a room that was not clean. The bathroom had mildew on the ceiling and tiles. The bath tub's emergency drain was loose and hanging by one screw. There was a piece of woman's lingerie wedged between the air conditioning unit and the wall. And the AC/Heat did not work well. Saturday morning, I was awakened by construction noises in the room directly next to mine. After a late arrival on Friday, I had wanted to sleep in and the noise began as early as 8 or 9 am. Each time I went by the desk to speak to someone, they were very pleasant and kind but told me I needed to check with the person on the next shift. They did not offer to change me to another room, and I assumed it was b/c the hotel was still full. I checked at the desk on Sat night to ensure my card was not charged a no-show fee. I was told they could not tell & to check again on Sunday when I checked out of the hotel. On Sunday morning, the gentleman at the desk said I was credited the no-show fee and gave me a total due that was greater than the $108 rate for the two nights. I told him about the problems I had during my stay, and he asked if I told the front desk. I answered I had on several occassions, and 'no' they had not offered to change my rooms. I told him I disagreed with the total due as it was higher than the $108/night rate quoted to me. I was suprised that his only offer of customer satisfaction was to remove the pet fee and the taxes associate with it. Overall, I was surprised of the condition of the room for a newly renovated hotel.
